In a random search for information about the late Ed Zausch, I came across an article from spring 1965 when Coach Mac had interviewed (on campus) two prized recruits, a 6-foot-8 kid from suburban St. Louis named Jim Bailey and a 6-4 shooter from Breck Co., Ky. named Butch Beard.
Both players seemed interested in EC at the time.
Bailey, of McCluer H.S., ended up accepting a scholly from Marquette to pursue his stated interest in a law curriculum. Bailey only played 9 games for Al McGuire (1966-67 season) and there the trail ends.
Beard just became a Louisville legend.
Considering, it's interesting that top quality players thought highly enough of EC to even visit. I have often heard that Larry Weatherford was highly interested in the Aces before going to Purdue.
