7-5-7 on the season, that's a lot of ties.

7-5-7 on the season, that's a lot of ties. They had very little offense. Mostly defense, which led to a lot of ties.

A big addition for the women's soccer team this week: Homecoming: Three-time C&P Metro Player of Year Ryleigh Anslinger transfers to UE"One of the top city high school athletes in recent years is coming home. Ryleigh Anslinger, a 2021 Memorial High School graduate, will play soccer down the street from her old stomping grounds beginning in the fall at the University of Evansville. The school made her transfer from Indiana University official on Wednesday. The Aces were among her top choices during her initial recruitment. A desire to remain close to home also remained a top priority. Thus, Evansville checked multiple boxes... Anslinger is considered one of the top multi-sport female athletes in Memorial history. She unofficially ranks second in goals (93) and assists (53) in girls soccer – the official record book is incomplete prior to 1996. Anslinger was selected the Courier & Press All-Metro Player of the Year three times... Anslinger will not be eligible until the fall season due to NCAA transfer rules. She played in three matches as a freshman at IU with a season-high 16 minutes coming at Penn State... Anslinger previously committed to UE during her sophomore year of high school. She later reopened her recruitment when former coach Krista McKendree did not have her contract renewed... She is one of several local players who will eventually suit up at Evansville. North senior midfielder Kaylee Woosley, the 20th-ranked recruit in the Great Lakes Region according to Top Drawer Soccer, signed in the fall. Reitz junior forward Taylor Johnson committed in September... UE went 7-5-7 and lost to Loyola in the Missouri Valley Tournament championship last year. The Aces' season included the best start, a seven-match unbeaten streak, in program history. "I think this team is going to be really good," added Anslinger. "UE is all about local players. It shows how much Evansville means to us."

Women tied with Austin Peay on Sunday. UE took a 1-0 lead late in the 2nd half and we only needed to melt away 5 minutes for the win. Unfortunately we had a mental error on defense and allowed a late goal. It was frustrating to watch as we allowed one of the AP players go unguarded right in the middle of the box.
Looks like IU transfer Ryleigh Anslinger (Evansville Memorial grad) is going to generate some offense for us. She had a nice assist for our goal that was put in by Emily Ormson.

Keys to Memorial girls soccer defending IHSAA state championship in Class 2AThe #1 Tigers (21-0-1) are attempting to defend their state championship as we speak. They have been dominant this year outscoring their opponents 103-4 this season, and 27-0 in the postseason. No opponents has scored on them since September 3rd. Their big two are Ella Hamner, Sr., Midfield, 22 goals, 16 assists (Evansville commit) and Kennedy Neighbors, Sr., Midfield, 18 goals, 24 assists (Indiana commit). But they have other solid players like Avarie Zeller, Sr., Forward, 22 goals, 14 assists as well. This is their ninth appearance in the state finals but have never won back-to-back championships. They come in with a 33-match unbeaten streak needing just one more.

Thanks for posting AustinAce. That first strike by Ella was hammered in from 25 yards out! Looking forward to seeing her in a UE jersey next year. From the games I've seen, midfield is an area we really need some help.
Also, big win for Volleyball up at Valpo.
