Any game against them. It didn’t matter. The Hill era for them was easily one of my favorite times to root against them. But flat out, be it tiddly winks or basketball, I always loved beating Xavier.

Pete Guillen also. He's even annoying as a broadcaster.

It was a hell of a rivalry. Our programs dominated the MCC during the late 80's-early 90's. I believe Crews and Gillen both arrived the same year. Before Gillen, I would say our biggest rival in the conference was probably Loyola.
Xavier managed to maintain their program, while we made numerous missteps.
I would encourage Seltzer to watch that 87-88 game. He can skip to around the 1:16 mark and learn how a coach should stand up for his players when they are getting mugged.

The Xavier games were fantastic and a tough, heated rivalry even Gillen has mentioned a number of times when covering Aces games recently as a broadcaster. Roberts was packed and the games were almost always close for a number of years, with us pulling out a W from what seemed like insurmountable odds when facing Hill and Strong those few years. They had size on us but we could shoot the ball, something as a team we have not done for 20 years it seems.
