I guarantee that if you dominate the MVC, you will get a shot at the pros. (Ex. Larry Bird or Morant from the OVC.). . If you can’t be a stud in the MVC, then you won’t be a pro anyway.
If you ride the bench at a P 5 school for whatever reason, you won’t even have a shot at the NBA, and never even get the opportunity to showcase your talents. UE would guarantee you both playing time and a solid education and a diploma if things don’t work out.
Don’t rule anything out. NIL money does muddy the waters however.

He’s Purdues top target in his class and IU is all over him too. You can rule him coming to UE out of HS out. Maybe he’ll transfer to us if he ends up not working out like Lander, but there’s no way he chooses us out of high school.

You would think that way Every 4 and 5 Star in the country thinks differently That's right. Parents, friends and egos suck them right onto a P5 bench, usually the faux glory seats next to the portal. They were convinced by everyone around them that they were good enough to make the All Milky Way Team. Brights lights to dim finishes. I will continue to sell UE as a sound choice. Feel free to cheerlead for the marquee programs but please remember, they don't need your help. I’m not “cheerleading” you mouthbreather. I’m stating facts.

Sisley most likely will not "up" his game without a year in some academy setting, since the level of play he sees isn't quite as demanding as the seeded superstars at Lawrence North or Cathedral or any of the private programs that travel extensively now. Those are the ones the IHSAA deems "prep schools."
Not having seen this kid play, not knowing if he has strong hands, good lateral instincts, or is coachable -- one assumes he has some of that -- he's also 6-feet-9 now and probably still growing. Does he want to play with his back to the basket? If so, he's ironically undersized for that. Almost nobody who isn't 260 pounds wants to play there and many of them are European imports.
To that end, there are 300 guys out there who fit Sisley's build and pedigree. If he comes to UE and helps them win, great. If not, here's hoping he gets a call from the Lithuanian Leopards.

I'm feeling generous today.

Please help settle a debate - Is this Sisley the younger brother of the Sisley who left our program a couple of years ago? I thing he is, but my friend, who knows basketball better than I, says "No."

I am simply interested in the debate about the recruitment of Sisley and what UE's expectations can be for getting a guy like him? For or against, give me your reasoning. Not interested in reading the personal attacks on the person submitting a comment.

Trent is rated very high in his class, something like top 30 in the nation, if I remember correctly.

I live in Dubois County and basketball is so much a part of the area, including the neighboring Heritage Hills school district where Trent Sisley is from. I hope that the same home-close feeling that brought his brother to UE will be a factor in Trent's decision also. I know power 5 schools offer more publicity, but a super star at a school with the UE heritage could do the same. I am keeping up hope. Come and be the star that brings UE back to prominence, Mr. Sisley...you do that, and you write your own ticket to the career you probably are seeking in the pros.

Not interested in reading the personal attacks on the person submitting a comment. In my opinion, you gotta shoot your shot with all of the high caliber local recruits. You never know what can happen until they tell you no. But once they make it clear they’re not interested, you have to give up and spend your resources trying to recruit more attainable players. That said, I’m pretty confident he’s told us no, and if Blake didn’t have a good enough experience to hang around longer than 1 year, then there is no way that Trent is going to give us any serious consideration imo.

We simply can’t compete with Indiana and Purdue for their top targets in the state that are top 50 national players. We couldn’t compete before NIL, and we don’t stand a chance with NIL as a factor.
If Rags gets this turned around, we might be able to sway a CJ Gunn or Anthony Leal caliber player to pick UE over them, but we are never going to land a top 50 national player over them. I respect the optimism of some, but it just ain’t happening.

Being a Sophomore, I think you keep the kid on your radar and still communicate with him. Recruiting is very fluid these days, what you want one year, may change the next and interest from the P5s could wane by the time he is a Senior if he doesn't show enough improvement. But they gotta offer early so they aren't left behind if he continues to show signs of being a superstar.

I think he is Khristian Lander 2.0. I haven't seen him play in person, only watched highlight stuff posted on Twitter. One that was recently posted showed him getting stuffed going for a dunk. It definitely wasn't posted by his father, lol. Time will tell but if he goes to a P5 school, he's a 10-15 minute per game role player. Maybe even so at a mid-major.
