Seems to be mutual interest between the Aces and 6'9 PF Malevy Leons, a native of the Netherlands. Malevy currently plays for Mineral Area Junior College, which was undefeated at 20 - 0. I've seen him listed at either 6'9 or 6'10. Very athletic, quick, great outside shooter. No official offer from the Aces.

I notice that he can finish at the rim with either hand. He shouldn’t be showing the ball to the defense for the block.
Also, wasn’t there a “mutual interest” with one of our recruits who just committed? I like that he has the ability to drive and finish at the rim or shoot out past the 3-point line.

Iyen is from the Netherlands as well so I'm sure he probably knows Malevy. Speaking of Iyen, I noticed his brother transferred from Kansas. Probably no shot, but I wonder if playing with his brother would interest him at all.

They were 3 of the youngest members on that roster.

I hope (and dream) that Tristan and Malevy come to Evansville. But we all know that it is a long shot. I see where one of Tristan’s UK assistant coaches is going to Austin to be on Chris Beard’s staff. Not sure how close they were; but wouldn’t surprise me if he ended up in Austin (even if it is the same conference) as UT recruited him before.
I would take Tristan or Malevy in an heartbeat and hope Iyen is in their ear.

Hope we add more talent but I also hope TL gives out more minutes to the new talent we are bringing in. I will be very disappointed if we see Kuhlman end Frederking get more than 10 minutes a game next year. Great guys but neither are going to help us take the next step up in program.

Thanks for sharing. He is an intriguing player for sure. Aces traditionally have not done well with juco players...though Coach Lick made a good choice with Iyen. If anything, it is good to know Malvey, at least according to what I read, has multiple offers from other Mid-majors, including another MVC school - names of schools not given. Has "interest" from some High Majors. Plays on the perimeter and can handle the ball. If nothing else, he appears as an upgrade from what Aces already have.

It sounds like you’ll be very disappointed. They won’t be returning for 10 minutes. If they return they will start every game and play 30 minutes each. The new talent will be new redshirts.

If Kuhlman and Frederking come back, there is no way this team improves. Honestly, they hit their peak and all they have to offer is maturity. If you are rooting for these guys to provide depth, your expectations are to hope the life raft makes it to Mars.

16 points and 11 rebounds for Malevy Leons in a 73-56 win over Triton College. Mineral Area College finishes the regular season 23-0. Post season bids tomorrow.

Agree about most Jucos, but if we can get him, we could Have a big to provide immediate help. JUCO s who score are not uncommon. Almost every team has a couple of high teen-20 pt. Scorers. Rebounding, on the other hand is a tougher commodity to find. Relationship with Iyen is hopefully a plus for the Aces.

Would be a great addition, and UE is a place where he could make a real difference.
