So what's everyone's opinion on Isiaha.Hes averaging 20 pts a game as a PG and has a wide variety of schools interested in him from JC,D2,and D1.The part I like about him is he has some pretty good JC schools after him.I think we should offer him because he could turn out to be a pretty good player.

I'd take him over Dease.

Dease may be a little soft, but he is long, athletic, and can shoot with range. This offense needs shooters, and he can fill that void.

Without trying to analyze the skills of Swope or Dease, and I’m certainly in a position to tout my skills in this area, I prefer to look at who is knocking on their doors. All coaching staffs subscribe to national services and it’s rare for a HS kid to be lost in the shuffle. With that being said I think Dease has been offered by UE and Swope is being scouted. Since neither signed a LOI with UE in November I assume they are not high priority targets of the Aces.
As we have seen in games already played this year, the Valley is full of strong athletic offensive and defensive players. While both of these players will need to gain a lot of strength to succeed in the Valley, it remains to be seen if they have the body structure to get there. They both would add a lot of value in local fan interest boosting attendance and team revenue to support the athletic programs at UE. However, I have concerns they are the answer to competing at the top of the conference standings, but it is hard to turn your back on their ability to put points on the board. We need to see more games yet this winter to prove their skills. If they end up at UE they will be welcome.

Good points by aceshigh. I'm definitely no expert but I have seen them both play on person. I see Swope as more of a Shamar Givance type player.
I think Dease was offered while WM was still here. I'd enjoy seeing a matchup between him and Sisley.

Right now I think we need all the help we can get! I think coach made a comment on a post game show a while back and that was he would take a guy who could shoot over guys who could do everthing but shoot or something to that effect. Obviously these guys can both shoot from what I have seen so far. If not for us having a number of guys on the floor that can shoot at the same time we may not have one any MVC games this year, let alone 3. Dease will need to really bulk up or he will get pushed all over the court. Swope looks to have really worked on getting stronger since last year. If he is or can be as good as Givance and is 1 or 2 inches taller, that would not be a miss?

Looks like Swope took game honors tonight. 32 points in a losing effort is pretty good. He’s showing he can pop 25-30 points on any given night. Maybe he’s the right small guard to replace Givance. Swope would have a year or two under Shamar to learn the ropes and get physically stronger.

I would love to see 9 guys at UE who could light it up so as we could score 140 points a game but in order to do that, you can't go to :02 on the shot clock on every possession. Somebody does need to get open.

I think what I need to remind myself (and others), is that the recruits that typically sign with Evansville are kids whom need time to develop. Just like Shamar, just like Newton. Not too many over the years come in as freshman and make the splash of a Colt Ryan or DJ Ballentine. We all wish they would. I thought Trey Hall would make a bigger impact given the schools who recruited him (I still think he has a chance to be an outstanding player). However, it's a heck of an adjustment to make when a kid is used to being "the man" on his high school team, and is now playing against mostly older kids who are just as good, if not better, than he is. The "Dease's and Swope's" of the world need the time to mature. My guess is if they weren't a little "soft", much of the time they would end up signing with a high major university.

The advantages Colt, DJ, and all freshmen prior to this class had were: 1. Arriving on campus in May-June and playing pick up games all summer with upper classmen. 2. Whatever contact/instruction the coaching staff is allowed both in the summer and fall before practice. 3. Full blown 5 on 5, 3 on 3, and 2 on 1 practices that lasted more than the 1hr? a day the team practices now. 4. Learning an offense and defense that the upper classmen were already familiar with.

During summer, the team typically will have conditioning with an assistant coach, and play pickup games to boot. When practice starts, most will run from two to two and a half hours until season starts. When season starts, most teams cut it back to one and a half hours and then gives time to get shots up by individual players (and some really need to take advantage of it. I jest.)

What you are saying is absolutely true. But I am not sure of how that is germane to what I wrote.
