Just listed on verbal commits yesterday
From tweets, appears he is from Tn, but attending prep in south Fla.

He’s transferring to Baylor Prep in Chattanooga for his senior year. They play a much stronger prep school schedule and he should benefit from the tougher competition. Baylor was the 2018 TN prep school champion I believe.
Reviewing some video on Troy shows good 3-point range with a soft touch. He also shows he can drive and finish at the basket and shoots well off the dribble.
He has strong academics (24 ACT) and should fit well at UE.

Sounds like a kid we should work hard on recruiting.

Verbal Commits is showing Cornell just offered this kid. Can we compete with an Ivy League Education? From Cornell University: "No merit aid or athletic scholarships are awarded at Cornell; all grant aid is need-based. There is no minimum or maximum amount of gift aid that can be awarded. Outside scholarships replace loan or work components of the aid package, but do not reduce the parent contribution." Also, someone is shelling out $50,000 for his year at Baylor Prep.

Looks like a very good offensive player and hopefully will be a good player for us. He does look a little lean - so hopefully he hits the weight room. Good article from a couple of years ago on him: www.prephoops.com/2018/08/recruiting-report-troy-boynton-2021/Chad said this was our third 2021 commitment: Blake Sisley would be another one; is he counting Blaise Beauchamp? Verbalcommits has Blaise as a current freshman. So how many scholarships are still open for next year? 3?

I counted 3. Blaise will take one of those after he completes his year at Lincoln Trail as long as he meets admission requirements at UE. I’m not inferring he has academic deficiencies, but he did jump around prep schools and he may have to jump some hurdles like that other guy who used to play for us. I think that’s why he’s at the Trail rather than sitting on our bench in street clothes for a year.
You put the three we already have under our tent with two more to come we will have had a pretty good recruiting year. I just hope at least one of those two is a true center that can bang with the other big men in the Valley. I think Lick has some in mind but has to wait and see who falls off the wagon at some of the higher profile schools and becomes available. The dominoes will begin to fall.

This is good news - another player who can shoot the ball and likes to get to the rim. He was the MVP of a tournament in Florida a little while back and saw some clips of him taking the ball strong to the basket and making some real nice shots around the rim as well as having really deep range.
As AcesHigh said though - we need another big man, we're still really thin up front with Sisley really being about it - along with the Iyen who we really have no idea if he can even contribute at all. But like I've said before - in college basketball guards make the world go round - if you don't have good guards who can shoot and handle the ball - you're doomed - even if you have a good big man. You can be competitive without a lot of size but you cannot without guards. Heck, look at last year's team - our guard play was horrendous until Lick started getting some production out of Newton. What you really want is to have both good guards and good bigs - that's when you can really start to perform. We're definitely going in right direction from the guards standpoint - we just need to get another big guy and another good forward and we'll definitely be looking up.

I know I sound like a "homer", but who cannot be impressed with the quality of recruits Coach Lick has brought in since his arrival? Time of course, will tell. But I have a sense that the type of players our staff is bting in are high character individuals...more exemplimentary of the values UE and the fans share. Now it's time to reel in a quality big....it will be interesting to see what comes forth. I am still hoping for Kalle.

Did you miss the part about Kalle committing to Akron. He’s no longer on UEs list.
