I love hearing Bob Buck on the radio call. He's, imho, one of the top three Aces radio broadcasters we've had. Him, Marv Bates, and Lance.

Curious, what was the issue between Jack & him? He never hid his disdain for his more popular brother/Voice of the Cards.

I fondly remember Bob calling Aces basketball games on the radio but was unaware he did Aces football too as I never followed the football team. In the early 90’s his picture was in our church directory but I don’t recall ever seeing him in church. We had about five masses on the weekends then and I may have attended at different times as him. At a Cardinals Caravan in 94 or so (then manager Joe Torre was there) at PAC Arena, some in the autograph line mentioned Bob to his nephew Joe Buck who was a Cardinals announcer at the time. Joe had nothing but nice things to say about his uncle Bob.

I don't know if there was actually a riff between Jack and Bob. Possibly, but I think Bob may have been trying to establish his own identity as a sportscaster, and not get introduced as the brother of Jack Buck. They may have been much closer behind the scenes than publicly.
I have always said Jim Crews just wasn't the same after the passing of Bob. They shared a chemistry that Crews never had with anyone else in the media.

The C&P online posted a Q&A with former Aces announcer Adam Alexander on Sunday. He briefly spoke of Bob Buck in the article. www.courierpress.com/story/sports/2020/04/19/former-wevv-broadcaster-climbed-up-ranks-nascar/2991192001/You began broadcasting UE men’s basketball games in the mid-1990s. What was Bob Buck like? Bob took me under his wing. He would evaluate what I would do and write notes. He always had my best intentions at heart. We went to St. Louis for the Missouri Valley Conference media day. We left early and I felt a little guilty because I thought there was a little more business to attend to. We drove to Jack’s house (legendary Cardinals Hall of Fame broadcaster Jack Buck is Bob’s brother). Jack took us on a tour of his house. It was unbelievable. His son, Joe, is the lead broadcaster on Fox, doing the NFL, golf and Major League Baseball. If not for Bob Buck’s constructive criticism, you said your climb up the ladder might not have happened. He made everything seem pretty reachable.
