I just saw on LetsgoDU web site there is a proposal, that has been put on hold, to change the men's soccer season from a fall only sport to a fall-spring sport. 13 games would be played in the fall ending around Thanksgiving and then starting back up in the spring with 9 games schedule and the N.C.A.A. Tournament played in the spring. I was wondering what everybody's opinion was on this proposal?

I don’t like the concept of pausing your season for that long and then resuming and would hate it if MBB ever adopted anything like that, but I don’t follow NCAA soccer so I can’t say this will have any effect on how many games I tune into personally.

I’ve heard about this. I think it’s a soccer thing
Not sure what the advantages or disadvantages are? What’s the thought process?

Depending on what level your at this is not unusual. Senior National teams play almost year round. Because of all the professional leagues FIFA puts out international breaks so players can be released to play on their national teams. It's 4-5 times a year. That's why the professional leagues seem to last forever (spring to fall).
Club teams (amateur) always do this. They have there summer tryouts then they'll play a fall tournament and hold their indoor training during the winter. They start their season in the spring.

I’ve heard about this. I think it’s a soccer thing Not sure what the advantages or disadvantages are? What’s the thought process? Less weekly travel, cuts down on multi week matches, less injures with fewer games per week, less class time missed, longer development and training period for student athletes, year round coaching and conditioning, improve fan experience with more weekend games and better weather and better fit for possible professional development and can compete for recruits with the academy system according to the LetsgoDU article.
