If you want to do a history on Aces football, I heartily recommend doing a blog. There are several places to get a free one and all of them do what you need to do. Blogging is really underrated as a form of history gathering. The nice thing is you can make corrections later without the hubba-hubba of signing in, going into a file server to update webpages ... yet, you can post links and photos. I have two separate blogs for separate purposes. I often tell young people who think they want to write a book/novel that the blog is a great practice field. This is the sort of history that lends itself well to a blog. And you can still make good use of Facebook or Wikipedia, if those are support sources. This link is an example of some of my blogs. I keep them short -- 500 words or so, maybe longer when necessary. In some cases, multiple parts. fairfield200.blogspot.com/2022/11/skeeter-sleet.html

Thanks to Harrison88 for all his hard work compiling and posting the entire record of UE competition. With that being said I would like to add to this thread and discuss the ICC (Indiana Collegiate Conference) years. UE was a charter member of the conference and competed in football from 1952 to 1976. During those 25 seasons, UE had 15 season with a winning conference record of .500(4) or better(11). The 1970s were the most successful decade with the team being .500(1) and better(6) with the 1977 season being the only losing season of the 8 seasons competed. From 1970 thru 1976 UE went 24-9 in the conference. Throw in the 1969 season of 3-1 and the Aces had 8 consecutive winning seasons in the ICC. All 8 of these season were under head coach Jim Byers. Continuing with the ICC. EC/UE had five head coaches from 1952 thru 1977. Don Ping finished his 8 year head coaching career at EC with the 1952 and 1953 ICC seasons. Both years the teams finished 2-3 in conference play. Paul Beck was the next EC head coach doing two stints. The first from 1954 thru 1956 and the second from 1958 thru 1965. His ICC record was 22-26. In 1957, Forrest Page coached his only season at EC going 1-4 in conference play. Jim Byers took over the EC/UE head coaching job in 1966 and continued thru 1976. Byers conference record was 33-20-2. His last eight seasons had winning conference records. Byers took the UE AD job after the 1976 season and John Moses coached the final ICC season for UE in 1977. His team went 1-4 in conference play.

UE was a charter member of the ICC (Indiana Collegiate Conference) and competed in the ICC football conference from 1952 to 1977. During those 25 seasons, UE had 75 first team all conference players. There were 13 in the 1950s, 25 in the 1960s, and 37 in the 1970s. Separating the first team players by head coaches - Don Ping 3, Paul Beck 14, Forrest Page 1, Jim Byers 56, and John Moses 1.

* conference game Missouri-Rolla is now called Missouri Science & Tech I remember the Butler game. It was played at Central High School. I had a friend who went to Butler and was on their student radio station broadcast team - I was able to visit with him at halftime. It was nice that in a season where wins were hard to come by, we had a good game and I could rub it in a little. I also remember that either in 1981 or 1982 we led D2 in passing yardage. We threw the ball A LOT, which meant that what with a good number of incomplete passes, the clock kept stopping and the games could go on and on.

I also remember a game at Enlow Field one of those years, probably 1982 (fall of my senior year), where it rained and rained and of course we were passing 75% of the time, and the game just seemed to go on forever. Good times!
