They have started off 4-0 with two wins yesterday and two more today. Izzy Vetter threw a no hitter en route to a 14-0 win over Mississippi Valley State.

Stephen F Austin was a big win. Last year, they finished 35-12 which put them 89th in RPI out of 292 D1 teams.

Generally, good things are happening in UE Athletics. Both soccer teams made it to the MVC championship game. Volleyball signed a top 100 recruit. Women’s basketball is on the rise. Meanwhile, men’s basketball is like our worst sport ...

Meanwhile, men’s basketball is like our worst sport ... I agree but will hold my enthusiasm for the soccer programs until the upcoming seasons. Regular season performance is hopefully better in those sports. I'm even a little more enthused about the men's basketball program than a couple weeks ago. The young guys should have been playing more from day one like everyone has said. I am encouraged by these last two games.

The previously 5-0 softball team dropped two yesterday as they are in the middle of a tough weekend as well with 5 games in three days (with three against top 10 teams).
They lost to Middle Tennessee State 4-2 and then 10-2 to #2 Alabama.
Today they play #8 Virginia Tech and Middle Tennessee State again. Tomorrow they play #8 Virginia Tech again.
This weekend should really test them and their depth and show them how good they really are against some of the best teams in the country.

The ladies currently stand 11-5. They've played some decent competition.

The ladies currently stand 11-5. They've played some decent competition. This team looks for real as they are now 12-5 (after two wins yesterday against Oakland and Green Bay and one today against Morehead State). Izzy Vetter is far and away their a ce pitcher. She threw her third career no-hitter today and second of the season as she struck out 12 in an 11-0 win today. She is #23 in the nation in Division 1 in strikeouts with 62 strikeouts. She has an ERA of 1.63. And most of the earned runs she gave up were against #2 Alabama in her only loss of the season.

Pretty impressive when you throw two no-hitters in a single weekend. The latest one a 2-0 win over Creighton.

The softball team dropped a couple of games this weekend on the road to St. Thomas and Western Illinois by one run and two runs, respectively. They play both teams tomorrow at 10 am and 2:30 pm (in the same order). They didn't have their ace (Vetter) go today. So, I would expect them to win at least one game tomorrow. With the two losses they dropped to 13-7 overall.

The softball team is now 17-8. After dropping the opening game in the series to Drake yesterday (with our best pitcher losing); they came back and won both games today. Schedule 2-1 in conference play now.
