Proud of the Aces...didn't give up, with just a call or two the last few minutes, like a foul when KJ was taking it to the basket, and we could have won this game. This should give the team a boost of confidence that we can compete and win. Just can't figure out why Kuhlman plays??? Killed us!

They played “team ball” for the first time in a lot of games.

Looked like a team with a good coach. Gives me hope ongoing if Deandre returns.

If this is an indication of the direction we're going, I'm pretty happy. Ball movement and player movement on offense was much better. Defense was much better. Newton has been playing well.

Wow, can't say enough about how well the Aces played today! GREAT effort that just barely came up short. Aggressive offense! Especially liked those pick and rolls! I thought that was a foul on KJ's last drive to the basket. Defense was awesome!
Sam played really well. Nice to see Noah get back on track with those 3's. Shamar did a great job of driving and dishing. Sure looks like Coach Lickliter is making a difference just by getting the team to play hard and getting the brains engaged. Even though it's a loss, it is encouraging from what we had been seeing!

Moral victory. I think given more time Coach will begin to establish a more organized offense. After as many moral losses this year and the last few years....it is about time to start feeling the opposite

Initial thoughts fresh from the game. We looked soooo much better than we had in any Valley game to date (except maybe the first 37 minutes against Valpo at home). We got down by 18 early, brought it back to 13 at halftime, and battled hard the rest of the way. I liked our hustle, and as a result we shot much better. It's crazy how that works.
Now, to argue a point I was making before. Kuhlman had a great game today as far as I'm concerned. I know he was 0-5 from the field and went 1-2 from the line, but he contributed in other ways. I believe this was his season high in minutes, and he was playing in crunch time which means that the coaching staff has confidence in him. He drew at least 4 fouls that I can remember (including a loose ball foul and a charge), dished 3 assists, contributed solid defense, and most importantly committed no turnovers. On the "terrible" sequence in question with about 5 minutes remaining, it was pretty clearly a 15-foot shot which is one that he should make, but much more forgivable to miss than an 8-footer as some were saying. The bad shot under the basket looked worse than it was, as he pretty clearly got fouled with no call, and then he DID hustle back on defense but he's just slow as hell. His teammates are supposed to pick him up in that scenario and let him rotate to a man on the wing while they take the trailer in the lane. Now, you can hold his slowness against him, but I will not stand for anybody questioning his hustle. He gave everything he had tonight, and I urge you to watch the replay to see that.
Also, GTFO with complaining about Riley on that dunk attempt. If he shoots a layup and it gets blocked, you would all grumble and groan that he should have tried to dunk it. I applaud the attempt, and it was a hell of a play by McMillan to block it (and still easily could have been called a foul).

But wait!...… The patient has a pulse!!!! Congratulation Sam for player of the game. Feed off of it, show em what ya got. I am so glad that our coach is giving Sam another opportunity to play. I think the coach has seen a lot of ballplayers in his time and I think he sees great potential in Sam. Sam got his chance today and almost got the W for us - with a lot of fight from his teammates. Hope is in the air!

Great improvement, even without Deandre. Highly encouraged.

Riley held the ball a fraction of a second too long. Kiss it off the glass and it's probably an and one with the defensive player hitting KJ's hand or wrist. I'd file the dunk attempt in the category of selfish play or 'hero ball' we see posted about on here often during the MVC 0-fer. KJ was going for pretty over practical. And yes, with all of the losses lately, I would have grumbled and groaned with a missed layup too.

Many have already expressed my feeling so not much to add. I am encouraged by the team's play.

I thought Evan was gonna screen off the VALPO player and allow the ball to go down and bounce outta bounds, instead of trying to tip it to Shamir. Would have been ACES ball, under their own basket and no time would have expired.

The big thing that stuck out to me were the contributions by ALL the Aces today!! They played hard and utilized their own individual talents ... whether shooting the 3, playing tough defense, setting good screens, driving to the basket, passing, etc. And to come back from 13 down at half (lucky 3 point shot by Valpo before half), the Aces didn't quit and played a VERY smart game!!
SO impressive today!!!
