I think anything that I consider a success with the women's team is this:
They are interesting to watch. I have watched every game this year on streaming, when possible, which is about 8 times the number of games I watched them play since 1983. So, they have won me as a fan. That is my measure of success. I also see that the teams they play are all pretty good, even Oakland City put up a bit of a fight. Not sure where they finish in the Valley, but the crowds are getting bigger at Meeks. I think this outfit will capture a nice chunk of fans. From there, who knows. Yeah, giving up 80 points is one thing but that is the result of a fast pace. I think they foul a bit too much, which gives the opponents more free throws.

Just goes to show what a little recruiting improvement can do for a program. Coach RSW has brought in some talent that helps balance the women’s team. This balance has made the team more difficult to scout, and it has given Abby more freedom to do a lot of things without opponents keying on her.
Oh, how I wish the men’s team had a HC who could recruit, condition, strategize, and motivate along the lines we are beginning to see from the women’s program. There is no value in accepting a “go slow”, patient approach to rebuilding.

There is no value in accepting a “go slow”, patient approach to rebuilding. It is fair to point out that the women's program had a much lower ceiling of expectation and by exceeding it almost immediately has made them way more interesting. The trick now is to fill in the blanks and having identified their needs better, that's a more focused recruiting. I also think you recruit women for different reasons, the chief one being -- the value of the education they expect to receive. Not very many Valley girls will play pro basketball, but many of them will stay in sports-related professions later on. UE needs to keep that curriculum strong. I don't know that the men can approach it the same way. In a phrase, if UE men want to make the same leap, they need to cheat a little better.

No cheating please!!!
I understand that will make it harder for us to excel; but I would much rather have a coaching staff and players with morals and character that do things the right way. I do realize that some will say that was where we were under Marty.
Some things are more important than basketball and winning.
Let’s do it the right way. They don’t have to be mutually exclusive.
