I think Henderson needs a lot more minutes. 6 points in 9 minutes verses Fredo's 5 points in 36 minutes.

I’m not sure how much more I can take. Been a fan since the 60’s but this team and situation is tearing me apart. Watching your favorite team is suppose to be enjoyable not torture.

Note to coach: don't let John shoot any more 3's!! Some of those shots didn't even hit the rim!!! And I think we are shooting close to 20% on 3's. Not good.

On the radio, Devin said Hall was 4-29 in the last few games. I've said this before on "fans"; John Hall needs to play defense, rebound, and if he's wide open, shoot an occasional 3. The offense requires our forwards to handle the ball outside, but he looks for the 3, WAY too much. His best games as an ace were the 1st 20 games of last season when he AVERAGED 9.6 boards a game. Since Feb of last year, he seemed to shun the idea of banging inside. Unfortunately, he's our only true "big", and we need him to be a big. Admittedly, he was stronger inside today than he has been, but it needs to be EVERY game, not for 10-12 minute stretches.
Sam was a liability today. IMHO, Sam wants to be the "go-to" guy, but there is a difference between making plays, and trying to be a hero. Although I can't see laying all the blame for our poor 2nd half solely at Sam's feet, he was squarely in the middle of at least 4 plays where he tried to force things, causing either a turnover or missed shot that MSU converted for points at the other end.
Dre is the difference at this point. If he's in today, we have a solid chance to win. Without him we are last year's team, plus Sam and Art. Art is streaky, and didn't have his best game today. However, Art always brings effort. Sam has individual talent, but this is a team game, and the energy he brought to the court today was NEGATIVE energy, not positive.
The guys, overall, gave a big effort today. I'm proud of them working through a very tough situation. I hope they keep their heads up and give a full game's effort Wed. like the 1st half today.

Coach should give Sam an entire 40 minutes..don't yank him out for missed shots...he needs to be able to play this out, gain confidence, and not be afraid of being benched. I think the talent is there, but confidence is shattered and he is trying too hard. I still believe that he is going to be a star for the Aces.
Sect...I view the situation with Sam differently. While I agree with you that Sam will be a star for the Aces, it's his attitude that gets him benched.
Coach McCarty has always encouraged his players. I'll use John Hall as an example. As much as I (and several other Aces fans have pointed out) would like to see him limit his 3 point shooting, it's not going to happen. Coach is still going to have him take those shots. Sam on the other hand has had several opportunities to play it out and he will have a lot more. Sam sitting the bench is to remind him that the only thing really holding him back is his attitude.

I hate this offense. I understand as a pro offense with five out , or one in 5 out, but it is obvious we don’t have the personnel to play that kind of offense. What ends up happening is two or three guys standing around and when we do pass it is really not done with any kind of crispness. I played basketball for many many years and I can tell you it is harder to guard five guys moving at the same time and screening then it is to play guard two or three guys moving . Also the pro offense we run, since we have so many guys standing outside, we end up having nobody to rebound when a shot does go up. Don’t try to tell me I don’t understand a pro offense. What I do understand is being i the bottom 10 teams in division one in rebounding. That’s the reality of the situation and not some half cocked Theory. We flash no one to the inside during ball movement. When you at least run thru the paint it causes defenses to react and move. I’ve watched Evansville basketball for 40 years, and this is the lousiest playing fundamental team I have seen in all that time. There’s a lazy ball movement, people don’t block out or crash the boards, very few screens are getting set, and jump shooters are not going straight up when they shoot. I think Cunliffe and Henderson should play more. Cunliffe Does try to drive inside when he does not have the numbers and he just terribly when you shoot a jumpshot, but I like his hustle and he had several nice assists.. I watched his jumpshot and he is always drifting to the right or left to when he shoots. I am not a Marty fan at all his teams play better defense than his team ever thought of playing. And you would not see teams dribbling inside with impunity on his watch. Looks like Hall has lost all confidence in his shot. I’m fed up,but since I have already paid for season tickets so I’ll show up and watch the train wreck.

I wish Sam would have an attitude adjustment. He hangs his head constantly, stands around on D, is late on 3 point challenges, and like KJ pouts about every call... in my opinion... he is the best athlete we have ever had, and the worst attitude. It could change on a dime, but it will take Sam to change Sam.

Sam plays like a "wuss"...complains on virtually every call (some warranted/most "incidental contact"). His "D" is horrible, as he plays 2 arm's length off the ball and is an easy pick. Has no idea how to post strong w/ the ball. Does he know where link the weight room is located? He reminds me of that old Charles Atlas "sand in you face" magazine commercial. As long as he looks & plays like a "toothpick," don't expect any level of consistency. And his attitude has already been bookmarked by MVC officials. I liked the starters today...35-30 UE half-time lead speaks for itself. We saw what happened after Bennie put his "jets" in during the 2nd half, didn't we? What happen to Art after the half? Should've seen far more action.

Wondering about Cunliffe, who's on his 3rd program. If he came to UE to get more PT to improve his pro stock, it's not happening. The guy has the tools to take over a game for 8 or 10 minutes.

He has NO POISE...easily flustered when he makes a mistake or misses a shot, and the subsequent damage usually is magnified. The game doesn't slow down or stop for Sam, does it?
