Physically he is a lot further along than Lander is now at IU in terms of strength. Not saying he is as good or nearly as good as Lander and since he is smaller he would never get the attention that a player like Lander did, so the big question is can he help the Aces win games? How does he compare to recent Aces guards of similar size? Shamar is shorter but faster I believe. Troy Taylor was similar in size. Swope is a better shooter than Taylor and maybe even Shamar when Shamar when he first got to UE. Not sure what other guards are a good comparison. I always like it when we can get a local player. It generates more fan interest, puts more butts in the seats and the player imho is less likely to transfer. I realize this is not a guarantee (Drew Smith) but I like the odds vs someone coming here from the west coast or other far away location.

Per Twitter, he just received an offer from USI. Good for him.

How does Swope compare w/ Dedrick Finn, who played for Xavier?

Not sure how much we recruited Swope, but I wish we would have given him a chance,he dropped 37 points in a sectional loss

I like Swope and I think he can serve a role at USI. But most MVC guards would eat his lunch.

Have you watched him play a game this year.I was going by what his coach was saying about him ,his coach has seen a lot of talent go through castle and if he said he could play mid major d1 I'll take his word for it

Yes, I actually saw him twice. I like him. But of course his high school coach will hype his own players. They always do. There are reasons why no D-1 teams didn't offer. That doesn't mean they could be wrong, but in most cases that is not the case. He is a good player for sure...that is why Stan Gouard signed him. But IMO, being 5'10, you have to be an over the top great ball handler, and super quick. In that regard, Swope is no Shamar Givance. But who knows, you may be right.

He will surprise people. He'll be a star at the D2 level. Whoever says he's not quick is dead wrong. Seen him playing person three times love the kid. The only knock I have on him is he's passive sometimes. Turns it on offensively when he wants to but defers to his teammates too much at times.
