As to recruiting, it is my understanding that non-personal contact continues, as evidenced by Pitino’s recent pickups at Iona. No official or unofficial visits. No in-home visits.
As far as the aces are concerned, the number of “available” scholarships is almost irrelevant. Coach Lick needs 4-5 upgrades NOW, just to be relevant next year. There may be a way to predict who stays and goes, but depending on whether the NCAA decides to waiver the one-year transfer sit-out rule, this could cause wholesale moves from one team to another. I HOPE coach is making offers left and right to fill out the roster. If he finds the right guys, you put Noah and Evan on academic schollys. They are good enough students to earn them, and it’d only be for their senior years.
To the larger question as to whether we have an NCAA football or basketball season: IMHO, If a vaccine can be developed and mass produced, the country will get back to something like normal quicker than one might think. That’s a BIG “IF”, but the cost of systematically administering the vaccine to every American is a pittance compared with the economic and personal peril we now face. Will the lack of practice time prevent an NCAA FB or BB season? Hell no. It’s economic and psychological impact is so great that if it’s safe enough for colleges to reopen for the fall term, we will see collegiate sports.
Of course, we have miles and miles to travel before we’ll know for sure.

If I were Lick, I'd be looking into a "shared formula" for using Heritage Hills' 6'2" PG, Simon Sherry, who's signed w/ UE Baseball, but was recently selected as SW IN Area HS Hoop POY. If anything, he could "walk-on" and if he cuts the grade in UE's backcourt, Lick & Carroll can hash out the details. Pretty sure the rule is anyone on an athletic scholarship who's also on the basketball roster counts against your basketball scholarship limit. Otherwise (and you know there are schools that would do this) coaches could just recruit as many basketball players as they want and stick them on the track team or something.

Not sure of the NCAA rule, but in all fairness, whichever sport PAYS for the majority of a student's scholarship should be tolled by the NCAA. You rarely see this anymore, since most sport season's overlap. But it doesn't mean it's not possible w/ that "special" athlete.
I recall John Wellmeyer from H-burg. He was talented enough to play BA, BB & FB @ UE. I'm sure there were others over the decades.

I don't recall him playing anything but football. He may have played freshman basketball.

As I recall, he also set an ICC conference record in throwing the javelin in his first meet. It's easy to forget details when you get "old", like me, but he was arguably a better athlete than his more famous brother, Donnie Baseball. At 6-4, he was definitely as good a 3-sport athlete as Wellemeyer, and I say that with no disrespect to John, who was an outstanding, gritty player.

He was definitely a 3 sport star in high school at Evansville Rex Mundi. He was a senior when I was a freshman there. Football, basketball, and baseball. I'd have to go back to my yearbooks but I don't think he did T&F. All the Mattingly boys were good athletes. All but Mike played three sports.
