Overall this is a really solid schedule. I like the mix of different conferences, Summit, Horizon, MAC, Atlantic Sun, WAC and the A-10 would give all of us fans some different teams to watch. I am a big fan of the A-10, so George Mason or anybody in that conference would be fun to watch.
I will add I would like to see a few closer distance games as home and home. For example the North Dakota State, Grand Canyon and George Mason games would be tough to travel to. Don't get me wrong, I like the mix of teams, but also like the possibility of being able to go to a road game.
Teams that come to mind for home and home games would be Lipscomb, Belmont, Middle Tennessee State, Western Kentucky, Northern Kentucky, Murray State (we need to keep them on the schedule), and go ahead and make the Bellarmine game a home and home since they are going D-1. I understand you can't have every home and home close by, but as many as possible would be nice.
Another thought about traveling to road games. I really enjoyed going up to the IUPUI game last year over Thanksgiving weekend, so try to find a tournament, or another close home and home that we could all go to easily over a long holiday weekend. I enjoyed the year we went to Nashville and played, it was easy to get to and possible for many of us who could fit it into our schedules. I understand the kids have a good time on an island trip, but most of us can't go on a trip like that to cheer on the Aces. I would love to host something at the Ford Center, maybe talk some teams into it from some of the conferences I mentioned above. My first thought would be invite Murray State to an event like that, those folks travel. Then add some other mid majors that want to play in a holiday tournament against some solid competition. A decent A-10 team to go along with Murray, and possibly keep Ball State in the mix in an event like this after our home and home expires with them this year.
I have no idea what it takes to put a Holiday tournament together, and many teams might not like the idea of playing on our home court for a tournament, but the concept of it sounds great to me as an Aces fan.
