Yes - I guess the last scholarship will be either used on an immediate impact big/wing, an international freshman to redshirt/develop, or save to recruit a 2025 (no seniors on roster would offer no scholarships to offer during the fall signing period).

No seniors now means very little. The turnover of players means just a promise of one year. Use the scholarship. There now is no reason to save it for next year.

If you don't save it, then you cannot get a high impact high school senior to commit/sign in the fall.

I think they should commit all resources every year to recruiting the best team they can get. Just expect a new roster every year and if it doesn't happen, it's just one less form to fill out. In fact, I'd bet most teams are already building lists of players they plan to poach for next season. We ain't rooting for players now. We are rooting for the front of the jersey.
Indiana State has stepped into that reality.

Incoming freshman are not a priority anymore because if they are any good they are not going to stay.

With NIL money now, a team can get creative with their walk-on guys. I read someplace that Purdue might be over their scholarship limit for next year. Proposed solutions are to move an academically strong scholarship guy to a "walk on" and fill the void with academic scholarships and NIL money. Granted we don't have the $ big schools have, but for 1-2 guys we could make it happen. Although currently our walk-ons are filled.
But as ATP and others have mentioned, most likely several guys are going to the portal on their own or with the power of suggestion from the coach.

I know all about the portal because my daughter just went into it and transferred. 😂
