You have to wonder is Schertz hadn't jumped the gun with SLU, would he have been in play with UK? His premature issue already cost him the Louisville job. I would think if Graves manages to keep the bulk of that team together, he will get the nod. If everyone bolts to the portal, they will probably do a search. Time is wasting though. We have seen how crippling it can be to have an interim tag on your title. Outgoing president, "Interim" AD and "Interim Head Coach". They shouldn't have any problem getting recruits........ Jumped the gun? And how do you know whether Schertz talked to UL? It seems that several coaches may have turned down that job. Numerous reports were UL wanted Schertz, but he pulled out because he had a MOA with SLU already signed and SLU wasn't playing around with it. Do I know it as absolute fact..no, but not sure what else would explain passing on $4 mil+ at an ACC school to go to SLU for considerably less.

Graves is the only buoy keeping the team idea afloat in TH. "Interim" may be, as many still think JS will want him in SL. Word on the ISU Board is that former ISU Asst Boisvert now @ George Washington will become his "Associate HC," with two(2) open Asst slots remaining. One to Graves (if he wants it). I'm sure he's busy comparing his failure w/ S. AL over 5 yrs, w/ ISU & TH. He's back home in IN now...big diff. Word also has Graves looking seriously @ NIL's JOEY HART. Family ties between Graves/Hart undermine these thoughts...

ISU fans all over the internet seem to be assuming Graves is a lock to sign him if made HC. Not sure where the confidence in that is coming from though. Graves was an assistant during uis original recruitment and they didn’t even make his top 4?

Do your Greene County history - Switz City/Linton. Who is "uis?" Big diff between a HC & Asst? Then there's the possibility of following Graves to SL if JS hires him for a Billiken Asst role. Hart since his initial HS recruiting has seen a significant self-actualization adjustment. St. Louis might not be a bad fit for him & his Greene Co. fans.
Btw, rumors floating that Hart has had a $100k offer from an SEC school. "Sold, to the highest bidder?" For you math majors, how does this compute w/ his UK season min of play?

I don’t blame him. Some of them already hate him for how he went about this, and we haven’t even gotten to the part where he raids their roster and leaves them as a last place MVC team next season. No reason to play a Q4 team that hates you.

I really don’t care about coaches changing schools and even taking players with them. That’s been going on since the beginning. What I find troublesome is the obscene amount of money involved. College sports are being destroyed from within.
I would hope that Joey Hart would consider playing for UE, but if the poster is correct that Joey has already been offered $100k by another SEC school that hope is gone. Smaller schools like UE will never be able to compete in that kind of market. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
We may be able to live on the fringe for a while but it’s only a matter of time until it’s over for the small underfunded schools.

UE vs SLU next Fall.....let's go! As long as it is a home and home. No one in this league should take buy games from an A-10 program.

No reason for adding this year other than, it doesn't need its own thread.
If anyone had said the next NCAA dynasty would be UConn, say you would have believed it. I thought they were fortunate last year, being as how they didn't even win their conference in 2023. Didn't even win the B.E. tournament. How'd they keep that together?
I won't mention Juwaun Tristen Newton but ..............

Yes that Greg, people always want to give players a 2nd chance for things like shooting people, sexual assault, and drinking and driving. So yes that Greg Marshall. Universities with options for hiring a head coach will stay pretty clear of abuse, because it's always ugly publicity, and the donations from alumni are reflected in that. Even if it's only coaching through excessive discipline, it's just not the label they want. The desirable coach now exhibits that down-home look your uncle Robert possessed. You don't even need to wear a sharp suit now. I am so happy coaches stopped doing that. Oddly, those same universities will turn a blind eye to cheating. Not sure I agree they tolerate the DUI stuff, as Huggins has learned.
