Lose 97-48. At least we kept them under 100.

Well we were fooled early on this year. This team sucks.

Have to agree that Gage is overmatched at this level of D1 ball. I like the kid and his work ethic and loyalty to the program, but he does not give us the best chance to win IMO. Chuck, Cam, Tanner and Kenny should all be playing shooting guard before Gage as that is the only position that he can play as he is just a shooter shooting 28 % from 3. Cam is as well but his ceiling his higher IMO. Getting killed 23-8 heading into the 11:19 timeout. Kenny and Gage have both played all nine minutes and have a +/- of -15. No reason not to try someone else at this point.
At this point Bailey needs to get the minutes and allowed to get into the flow of games without being taken out every 5 minutes. His upside is big and he is not going to learn by sitting on the bench.
Totally agree with you. We better let him play, then maybe he won't transfer. I seriously think we're going to be lucky if he stays here another season. Curious if Mr. Haffner isn't wishing he'd stayed at EIU. He sure played better in that league under Marty.

Did anyone see the altercation that got Bailey the T? I want to say at least he has some spunk in him and not going to take this loss well -- maybe it is what we need.

I stand by my earlier comment, this is the worst I have seen the team look. I know the Loyola and Duke games were brought up, but the expectations for both of those were lower. We were routinely getting pounded by 40 in Lickliter's year so that beatdown was kind of expected, and we rested so many starters against a top-10 Duke team that losing by 64 wasn't exactly a surprise.
Losing by 50 tonight was a shock. I didn't expect to win, but being down by 34 at halftime was about 25 points more than I expected. I don't know why, but this team seems to phone it in when Ben is on the bench. (Yes, including Bobe, much as it pains me to say)

My gosh so some freaking pride in the jersey you are wearing. This is totally unacceptable. No reason to get beat by 50 to any team in your conference. Sit them all until they find the passion to play. Put in all the walk ons hell they can't do any worse.

The coach needs to send a come to Jesus message. Unfortunately, I think he’s too nice. This might be the end of the end for UE basketball. Tired of watching losers.

Why waste money by staying in Iowa tonight. Just forfeit Tuesday's game, get on the plane, and head home. The team showed absolutely no heart and no motivation tonight. Why expect it will be any different on Tuesday?
Embarrassing.

Drake had more points in the paint (50) than we had for the game (48).

I am simply perplexed by our defensive scheme. Is it too complicated? The other night vs Valpo we allowed a shooter to go for 31 on us. Versus Missouri St the alley oops baskets were embarrassing. Then tonight blown out by 50. My vote is to go straight man-on-man, tell em' to fight like hell to get thru screens. Stop with the sagging, especially when you are allowing a shooter to be wide open. Then when a shot goes up, screen out your man. I've seen guys too often in la-la land, lost on the defensive end.

This is worse than the Loyola loss because this team has more talent and higher expectations. Drake played fantastic tonight but we had something to do with that. We will have to see how coach and the team reponds on Tuesday.

A defensive scheme that allows as many clean looks from 3 as ours does is not a good defensive scheme. I understand it’s that way because their focus is stopping points inside, but I think analytics (and common sense) would say a scheme that leads to a lower 2PT % at the expense of having a very high 3PT% is not good strategy. I also don’t understand how we allowed NJ benson to dominate us solely from alley oops in both games against MSU. No one else in the Missouri valley seems to have a problem guarding him besides us. Allowing it to happen again after knowing it happened constantly throughout the first game is embarrassing. Very frustrating to watch and we’re probably stuck with the scheme for the rest of this year, but hopefully Rags does some serious re-evaluating in the offseason.

Well, I just listened to our coach give the usual, "We're going to get better" comment and totally ignore the question of Why did we leave so many 3-point shooters wide open all night? All I heard was a lot of cliche - worn out expressions. Why not just tell it like it is and stop being so afraid to be so critical of such play? I don't think our team or coach showed one hint of a plan to at least play competitive basketball tonight, with the exception of a couple of guys - Bailey being one.
A beat-down like this is not only embarrassing to our program, but it surely must make recruiting very difficult. Good players won't want to join such a losing program and see their talent hidden by games like this. Something has to attract good players - either a super coach or a successful team of competitive players. If tonight's an example of what we do (which was to play no defense and not be able to put the ball in the basket) just because we were without our best player, then we are not attracting strong recruits. This horrid game hurt us a lot more than just our record!
