I wouldn't waste a scholarship for him, but if he'd come back home to be a walk on, I would be very happy with that situation. I think D. Straub should have gotten time this year as a walk on. I think he could have helped us in many situations. I am not against using these local walk on kids at appropriate times.

If he can’t play at AP he won’t play at UE. He is not Valley material and we don’t need to waste another scholarship ala Peace. My thoughts are this: 1. If true that he would not take one of the scholarships because a parent works at UE then what does it hurt? Another tall guy in practice that may be able to be developed and help us one or two years, again at no cost or risk as he would not take a scholarship. If he were to take a scholarship agree, UE needs to do better and he would get a lot more PT at USI. 2. He has to be better than Peace offensively if not on both ends. Yes, he is not as strong, but he can shoot the ball unlike Peace.

Of course, it doesn't hurt to have Sam on the team if he does not use up a scholarship. But he left AP because he wants to play now. Highly unlikely scenario he wants to be a practice player. He is a talent...and he could get significant time for some schools...but probably not Evansville.

Looks like DeVault is transferring to Bellarmine.

Looks like DeVault is transferring to Bellarmine. Well that takes care of that. Bellarmine is probably a good place for him.

I don't know why he would have to sit out. If a program is transitioning to D1, there is a time frame where they are ineligible for NCAA. Maybe he will have to sit out, makes no sense to me why they'd do that.
