I think Tunisa beat Algeria 49-42 as there was a video on the site I listed that said the final score was 49-42 but I didn’t see a box score. Also looks like Yacine has dyed his hair yellow/blonde. Not sure how Yacine did. It did look like he likely played half the game from the video I scanned (with no audio) but I didn’t actually see him score (but I just scanned through it). Hopefully they list a boxscore soon.
I think Gui’s Brazil team plays Japan in 14 hours at 8 am CST from the best that I determine.

Thanks Ace78. Yacine had nine points in a very low scoring game. The little bit I saw looked like it was a pretty sloppy game.

Note: I am updating this as I am noticing that the box score takes an hour or two to correctly update after the game finishes.GUI’s Brazil team won 94-73 over Brazil. Looks like they had a live feed, but I only saw the last 10 seconds. Gui seems to be a key contributor off the bench and played 17:36 minutes scoring 12 points on 4-10 shooting. He was 4-8 from three with four rebounds (one offensive). His three-point shot looked very smooth and natural. Remember he will be a freshman for us. Box score: www.fiba.basketball/world/u19/2023/game/2406/Japan-Brazil#tab=boxscore# | Player | Mins | FG | 3-Pts | FT | Rebs | Asst | TO | PF | Stl | Blk | +/- | Eff | 10 | Guilherme Tesche | 17:36 | 4/10 | 4-8 | 0-0 | 4 | 0 | 1 | 2 | 0 | 0 | -2 | 9 |
He played 4-5 minutes in the second quarter from the 37-minute mark to the 47-minute mark on the game video. Which was around the 3-to-8-minute mark of the second quarter with one of his three-point shots at the 7:29 mark of the second quarter (37:50 into the game video to put Brazil up 39-25); so, you can see that from the link above if you switch the drop-down from box score to video. Analysis: This game was much more fluid than the Tunisa game. Gui definitely has some skills and game. He did seem to be a tad slow and susceptible to getting beat off the dribble a bit. But with his height he was still able to recover a bit to make a play or alter the shot at times - but he was not between the offensive player and the basket at times (on defense) like you would like and his guy would get a step on him quite often. He seems to be able to guard or play most positions on the floor, but I think he would struggle defensively with the two extremes (a really quick point guard or really big traditional “big”). But he has a lot of versatility at the 2, 3, and 4 positions. He has a really good three point shot from what I saw. He occasionally brought the ball up the floor at times. He altered some shots. He attempted to “crash” the boards when the shot went up and I would say he is an above average rebounder especially with his height and playing the “guard” position. He spaces the floor really well.

It appears that Tunisa and Algeria play (again) at 11 am CST tomorrow (Sunday).
It appears that Brazil plays Serbia at 5:30 am CST tomorrow.
Note: I can’t be 100% on these times but I think they are accurate or at least close.
Also finding out that these box scores are not updated in real time and may take an hour or two after the game finishes before they are accurate. Am in the process of updating Gui's stats above as it appears the boxscore has been (correctly) updated now.

Thanks Ace78. Yacine had nine points in a very low scoring game. The little bit I saw looked like it was a pretty sloppy game. You're welcome. Appreciate your story leads, too .. as always. Yes, I wasn't impressed with what I saw of that game. Actually, I was concerned with Yacine's play. Not very good, in my opinion. The newcomers may present interesting competition for playing time at his position, don't you think?
I haven't watched Gui's game. Thanks for your game analysis .. very interesting. Gui appears to be a good shooter (from box score) and also a physically strong player (from the photos).

…The newcomers may present interesting competition for playing time at his (Toumi’s) position, don't you think?… I definitely think there will be more competition for playing time. My bet is on Joshua Hughes or Ben H. challenging him for playing time. However, we have six guys 6’8” or taller that could challenge for playing time at the 4 or 5 position (Yacine, Michael Day, Joshua, Gui, Sekou and Ben H.). Yacine definitely has skills but not sure I am 100% sold on him being the go-to guy (as much) as he was last year. My primary concern with his offensive game is his inability to finish consistently and his turnovers. He has trouble finishing at the rim, 3-point line and FT line. At the moment I see Gui challenging for playing time at the 2 or 3 position. He could be a good candidate as a backup to Kenny (or Cam).

Both Brazil and Tunisa lost by two points today. Brazil lost 74-72 and Tunisa lost 70-68. Gui played 19:05 and had six points and two rebounds and an assist and a block. He was 2 of 5 from the field with one three, one two and 1-1 from the line. I don’t see any stats for Yacine’s game yet which finished recently but he seems to be playing significant minutes. From what I can tell Tunisa just played two games and there are no more games. There are a handful of games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday next weekend but not for Tunisia (or most teams). Gui's Brazil team next plays on Tuesday against Egypt (at 1 pm CST?). And it looks like there are games on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday as well. Each round after Tuesday is dependent on where they place in their group C (Serbia, Brazil, Japan, Egypt) versus Group D's (Turkey, Hungary, Argentia, Korea). Speculation: I'm guessing Brazil will finish second behind Serbia in their group and play the third team in Group D on Wednesday (which is likely to be either Argentina or Korea). For reference, here are the FIBA World Rankings for Group C and D: FIBA World Ranking | Team | Group | #6 | Serbia | C | #12 | Brazil | C | #16 | Egypt | C | #31 | Japan | C | #8 | Turkey | D | #62 | Hungary | D | #18 | Argentina | D | #29 | Korea | D |
Note: The USA is ranked #1 in the U19 FIBA rankings but had a close call today against #10 Slovenia (77-72) and were tied at 72 with under two minutes to go. The USA did blow out #35 Madagascar (136-69) in their first game though. For reference, Yacine's Tunisia team was ranked #21 in their FIBA tournament and Algeria was ranked #105. Obviously Yacine is playing in an older FIBA tournament as Gui is playing in the U19 FIBA tournament.

Yacine is 21 years old. The average age of this team is 30.2 years. He should have a long career playing for the national team should he choose. Attachments:

Two pictures of Gui from the Tuesday Brazil/Egypt game. Good to see the hustle and 3-point form:
