Tanner's juco stats will not dazzle you: 5.8 ppg, 2.6 rebs, 2.2 assist. However, highlights show him to be versatile, fairly athletic, good ball handler with good moves, and sees the court well. Didn't see one turnover Given his height and ability to pass and drive makes him attractive for sure. Currently has one other offer from UMassLowell from American East League.

This is another kid that appears to be under the radar. For some reason he only has one offer. His stats at the JUCO level are not overwhelming but he appears to have played on some really good teams at the high school (6A level) and the JUCO level. One reason he might be under the radar is that he took some time off for LDS mission work.
His game is extremely versatile. He can handle the ball at 6’6” and can hit the long 3. However, what is even more intriguing to me is how he can create by taking his man off the dribble to get easy baskets for him and his teammates. He also seems to make those around him better.
Seems like a very good kid.

His high school coach was his father, and he led his 6A team to the state championship. I think Austin Ace is probably right about Tanner being under the radar due to his mission work. Admittedly, I am not crazy about jucos. But it can be hard to land a kid this versatile. In high school he averaged 17pts, 6reb, 6assists.

It’s good recruiting strategy.
Tanner (and his Dad) saw a lot of Jerry Sloan growing up
Use it while you can

So, last year played on the #1 juco team in the country. His team went 29-1. He was in the rotation as a freshman and even though his stats at first glance don't seem impressive, they were in 13.7 minutes of play. SLCC had eleven players play more than 12.5 mpg and no one played more than 23.4 mpg. So, he didn't need to put up big stats. You likely would have to double his minutes and stats to get a true feel for what he could do at the juco level. Note: Also, his last year of high school in 2019 he let his team to a 24-3 record and the 6A state championship (see link below for more details). So, he has been a key piece of two championship teams his last two playing years that went 53-4. He seems to be a winner that elevates those around him and could be a key piece of the puzzle for us and our quest for championships and a tournament appearance and run. Looking at his stats a little closer, he definitely his not a consistent three-point shooter (at the moment) but is capable and has a year to improve in this area. Likely he will take on a bigger role for SLCC next year. I would describe him as a point forward from what I have seen. Very good ball handling skills for a 6'6" player. Note: #6 on the juco rankings was Indian Hills Community College which is where Yacine played at. John A Logan College was #5. (I think but could be mistaken that we have recruited players from there before.)

This shows me that we are recruiting well, we were one of his first D-1 offers, someone has an eye for talent. That bodes well for us.

He's a talent for sure....Coach Ragland knew that. I am guessing Tanner will continue to draw interest. Hopefully, he will be wearing purple next season.

Sure hope we impressed him on his visit, because I believe it might be hard to corral this one.
