The search committee wont try and recruit a coach. The AD will have to pick from a list of candidates who are interested in the job,so everyone has a opinion on who they want but if they dont apply for the job no sense on having a wish list.

Tom crean won 2 outright big10 titles after bringing back iu from the dead. I'm not saying he's the best coach out there but some of you guys are acting like the guys never won anything The “overall losing conference record” thing is heavily skewed by the beginning of the IU tenure when he was building from nothing and his recent Georgia failures. Yes, the Georgia stint was bad and there’s no excuse for that, but if you take out the IU rebuild years, which are excusable imo, he would definitely have a winning conference record even with the bad Georgia time. He wouldn’t take the job unless he was all in, and if he was all in, I don’t think there’s many better candidates we could ask for imo. Not saying he’s 100% the guy, but to act like he’s 66 year old Todd Lickliter is crazy imo. Take out his IU stint and he still has a lifetime losing record in conference. 105-113

I would rather hire a younger up and coming coach or an assistant at a winning program than a retread coach. Crean is not Lickliter, but I’m not eager to hire one of the few people who had a worse record than TL this year. One of the best recent MVC hires was Darian DeVries, who was a longtime assistant at Creighton. (And no, I am not suggesting the current Creighton associate head coach - that would be Steve Merfeld). We are mostly speculating about former head coaches who have lost their jobs because they are known entities as opposed to successful assistants. Some of the best candidates are no doubt names that many/most of us are unfamiliar with. So I voted Other.

I don’t think it’s fair to remove the entire IU stint. The man won two Big Ten titles. Just saying that ANY coach would’ve had a horrible conference record the first 3 years with the situation he inherited at IU. 63-45 in the B1G after those 3 years with 2 titles. That’s a pretty good record.

I voted for Ben McCollum from NWMSU. He's who I was hoping ISU would go after when we made our coaching change. We basically went for the same kind of coach in Josh Schertz who was very successful at D2 Lincoln Memorial, but NWMSU has been completely dominant at the D2 level in recent years.

Ryan Miller is an interesting name no one besides this guy has floated. He was an assistant at Memphis while Ziggy was there. Have to think that guy has real sources and there’s smoke there on that one

Whoever authors this Twitter blog must be a friend of Lansing, who now is "rumored" to be looking for an NBA job! LOL
The only advantage to hiring Lansing would be if Johnson & Johnson purchased NO DOZ and used the Aces fans for upgrade sample testing!

Put your money on Ragland. He's surfacing in too many conversations out of the Indy area. The writers talk to the people who know the coaches.

Good man, but has NEVER built a program. It's also time to eliminate LOCAL bias in the selection process if the Aces have any desire to surface above water. Btw, where did the "Lick" originate? Yep, "The 'Nap."Could be part of the current problem w/ the NCAA...almost as bad as the IHSAA adding Boys VB and Girls Wrestling, while schools are in a financial crunch. But Principals luv those trophies, regardless of "value." I'm waiting for Croquet, Horseshoes and Bocce! Now THESE are true revenue producers.

Just because the IHSAA officially recognizes a sport and holds an official state championship for it doesn’t mean schools are forced to carry the sport. Plenty of IHSAA members don’t have football teams. Gymnastics is an official sport and no school in southern Indiana has a team. The decision won’t impact schools financials at all unless they opt for it to

Who pays for the tournament? No squads in S. Indiana? Need to check again. Look under the "Columbus Sectional."
