The “overall losing conference record” thing is heavily skewed by the beginning of the IU tenure when he was building from nothing and his recent Georgia failures. Yes, the Georgia stint was bad and there’s no excuse for that, but if you take out the IU rebuild years, which are excusable imo, he would definitely have a winning conference record even with the bad Georgia time. He wouldn’t take the job unless he was all in, and if he was all in, I don’t think there’s many better candidates we could ask for imo.
Not saying he’s 100% the guy, but to act like he’s 66 year old Todd Lickliter is crazy imo.
I don't think any of us knows enough about recruiting to say who is the best at it. That is not intended as an insult. It's just how recruiting has changed since NIL became a thing and it will get worse before it gets a brain. Coaches who can see through that bait and switch stuff will get better teams.
