Speaking of MTEs, it would be nice to get into this one if we can’t find one in a tropical location. Tropical MTEs definitely help recruiting, but if not, a trip to assembly hall would be nice for fans imo.

Why can't we get one going here. UE used to have a very good Holiday tourney. I know it was decades ago, but we had some very good teams in them.

That would be nice, but times have changed, and it would be the SWAC/OVC invitational if held today, and no one wants that. Most teams either go somewhere tropical against an average field to help recruiting with the prospects of a thanksgiving trip, or they go to a non tropical MTE against a tough field of teams that their fans and players would be excited about. It would be veeerrryy hard to get decent teams to agree to come play in the Ford Center for their MTE. I saw on blogging brackets that Cleveland States going to host their own MTE though, so I’ll be interested to see the quality of teams they can draw. I’d expect us to be a similar draw to that if we hosted one.

UE's official roster My guess would be that this is the tallest Aces team in history. Seven guys 6’6 or taller. Let’s hope it is also a very coordinated team :-)

We will definitely be taller than recent teams, but there were taller teams in the Dick Walters era. The 81-82 team had Emir Turam 7’1”, Kenny Perry 6’11”, Richie Johnson 6’9”, Steve Sherwood and Dave Bennett 6’8, then you had Theren Bullock at 6’6” and Brad Leaf 6’5”. And Rick McKinstry was 6’6”. With all those long arms, their 1-3-1 zone was really effective. Eric Harris, the point guard, was 6’1”, and he was the only player under 6’5” with significant playing time. Of course I was a student then so I remember those teams well…

Austin Ace, thanks for that great roster chart! Very well presented!
Here are some stats I found on Gabe. I believe these were for 2020:
PPG - 20 RPG - 5 APG - 5 3-pt. % - 65% (Wow!!!) GPA - 4.0
BigShots.net evaluation:
A TOP PG AVAILABLE 2021 in the East Region. Gabe Spinelli is a guard that can go. Really takes advantage of the downhill drive and using his body to get into defenders to finish. His bursty speed is a highlight of his game on both ends of the court. He prides himself in being a floor general racking up assist in many Big Shots tournaments. Has earned Game MVP honors in many events as well.

Thanks, Ace78 for Gabe's stats. If anyone notices anything that needs updating just let me know. I added the class year for each player (but due to time I just combined it with the Position column, if time permits later, I will separate into separate columns).
Adding the class year sheds a little light on players that might be candidates for a redshirt (if the players likely in front of them stay healthy).
With Strawbridge and Coleman as fifth year seniors, they likely are in front of Moncrief and Zaveion and possibly even Gabe - these freshmen might be able to be redshirted. However, Gabe might be good enough to push for playing time as a freshman. Our frontcourt has some experience, so even a junior like Yacine might be a candidate for a redshirt.
The balance of experience and youth at the same position is the best I have seen it in a long time. If desired, this will allow our talented freshman time to learn the ropes.

Got another commit! I’m guessing this means Bobe is back to a walk on?

Are we absolutely sure Bobe was given a scholarship? Anything official other than a random Twitter post? Even if he was given one by the old staff, I don’t think Ragland has to honor that.
This kid from Slovakia might be the best recruit yet.

A younger Mislav would not be a bad thing.

This kid from Slovakia might be the best recruit yet. He was for sure given a scholarship by the last staff. I’m not sure why it took so long for announcement to come but they made the decision to give him a scholarship in April. It seems like Coach Rags has decided to rescind that offer. I highly doubt this guys coming to fill the vacant walk on spot.
