Some great tweets on the Lady Aces win - definitely watch the postgame celebration video - definitely a close knit, fun group.

I know this isn't particularly important, but the term "Lady" has been put in front of every women's team since Tennesseee first did it. It's not really the official name of the team. They are just the Aces. I doubt anybody will sue you for it.

Pretty sure I have some old volleyball stuff from the 70s early 80s that says "lady aces" A lot of this has just been accepted because back then, it was just what they did. It still seems sort of cheesy to refer to them as ladies when it isn't a part of their actual name. I rarely get embroiled in things like that beyond the superficial. If you want to keep referring to them as "Lady Aces" I doubt the world will crumble. The website does not use the word "Lady" so far as I can find.

Back in my grad school days at Tennessee Tech the women's basketball team was called the Eaglettes. The men's teams are the Golden Eagles. I suppose we could call all the women's teams the Acettes. Wait, that's the non existent dance team. 😁🤷

Note: I see no problem calling the women's team the Lady Aces. If for no other reason it easily differentiates them from the men's teams. If you call them the Aces, what are you going to do call the men's team the Manly Aces. Ok, on to the real content: I took a quick peak at the Lady Aces remaining schedule, and they have six games remaining (four at home and two on the road). Two at home against Valpo and Loyola; then two on the road against Missouri State and Southern Illinois; and then back home against Drake and Northern Iowa. Here are the MVC WBB standings and the women's basketball schedule. Here are our results against these six teams so far: - At UNI was postponed early in the year; played them later at UNI and lost 58-78;
- At Drake we took a pounding in a 54-97 loss;
- At Loyola we loss 54-68;
- At Valpo we loss 62-74;
- At home we lost to Missouri State 35-82;
- At home we lost to Southern Illinois 62-75
Looking at the standings are most likely chances to get a win (in my opinion) are against Valpo and Drake (however, that 43-point blowout at Drake says differently). I think the road games against Missouri State and Southern Illinois are likely to be blowouts. We also should have a chance at home versus Loyola and UNI, but those games will likely be tougher than Valpo.
The bottom line is the next game (Friday at home versus Valpo) is probably our best chance to get a win.
I would like to see this team find a way to eke out at least two more wins as that would get them to double digit wins. Anything else would be icing on the cake.
Interested to get the opinions of others who follow the women's game a little closer (like HeavensvilleAce, etc.)

The only way they can keep from being blown out by Drake is to slow the pace, and they haven't done that this year at any time. It's a high-energy offense that relies on good shooting. The problem is this team is not very good on the boards and the defensive rebounding flaws are murdering them. They have cut down on the turnovers, which is giving them better offensive effort.
I think their press, while it's useful and could be effective, at times is not as effective as it could be. That's setting up some easier shots by the opponents.
There is still plenty to like here and I can see them taking a game or two in the Heartland tournament. I think we would have been happier with a better Valley record and they may be farther out than we realized. I will be interested to see how RSW recruits to this, now that there's a baseline to show potential frosh. She was able to use the transfer option pretty well. If the Valley isn't watching, there's a new contender in the mix.

I dont think its crazy to assume we could get 2 more wins. I assume we were shorthanded for a few of those games due to protocols and such. I would say we could see it happen but the stars have to align in our favor. We need to certain players to play at their best, and we need (probably) a little luck. Valpo I thought we could beat on a better day, and honestly we didn't look bad vs SIU. Drake and msu seem like bad matchups for us

I assume that other teams are playing Abby tougher, as the season goes on, but it seems that she has been passing up shots lately. I think we will give a lot of teams trouble at the Meeks, but on the road is a different story.
