I don't know squat about volleyball but I played one quarter in intramural while in school. They appear to have made huge progress. I might try to go see them during this homestand.

Aces extend win streak with sweep over Indiana State"The longest Missouri Valley Conference win streak in program history got a little longer on Saturday when the University of Evansville volleyball team won its 6th consecutive league match with a 3-0 sweep over Indiana State inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse. Evansville's streak pushes its record to 16-4 and 6-3 in the MVC. The league start matches the program's best since entering the league in 1994; the Purple Aces began the 2000 campaign with a 6-3 mark through nine games. Reigning MVC Player and Freshman of the Week Giulia Cardona made an argument for the repeat, leading all players with 17 kills and 7 service aces. The finished the match with 24 points in just three sets. Cardona's 7 aces is her top collegiate mark and is the first such effort since Anne Teegardin recorded 7 in 2006, also against Indiana State. Melanie Feliciano added 14 kills in the winning effort to go along with 6 digs. Taya Haffner recorded 38 assists while Blakeley Freeman and Alondra Vazquez led the team in digs, finishing with 9 and 8, respectively. The Sycamores (11-8, 3-6 MVC) were led by an 8-kill match by Kaitlyn Hamilton..."
As you might recall the Volleyball Aces started MVC play 0-3 with road losses to Indiana State, Loyola and Valparaiso (winning only one set in those three matches). Yesterday they avenged the Indiana State loss with a straight set victory. Next weekend they play Valparaiso on Friday night and league leading Loyola on Saturday. Schedule

Evansville won the third set 27-25. Up two sets to one now. Can they pull out the win against the first place Ramblers? Every set has been tight.

In the fifth set with our Lady Aces down 12-9. Hopefully we can find a way to dig deep and pull this out as it would be a huge win for the team and university.

Tough fight by the Aces but they lose 15-12 in the fifth set. This team still has a lot to be proud of playing the top team in the MVC so close. Hopefully their schedule is a little easier going forward and they can get some more W's to finish out the conference season.

I would like to know how high Cardona typically throws the ball on her serves, it's an amazing thing to watch. Just glad I don't have to attempt to return one..

I would like to know how high Cardona typically throws the ball on her serves, it's an amazing thing to watch. Just glad I don't have to attempt to return one.. I can not answer this directly but I would guess 15-20 feet minimum: “The jump serve is similar to an overhead serve. The server throws the ball higher, about 15 to 20 feet in the air, and gets a running start behind the end line. This added momentum during the serve sends the ball over the net like a rocket, making it extremely difficult for the opposing team to return or set it up correctly. However, it is easier said than done.” What I have noticed is how high she gets when she attacks/spikes from the back row. I believe that you must be behind the 10 foot/attack line to spike from the back row and she seems to do this better (and higher) than other players that I have seen. “What is an attack line in volleyball? The attack line, also called the “10ft line”, is a line that is 10 feet (or 3 meters) away from the net. Players in the back row can only attack the ball above the net if they take off from behind the attack line.” The video at this link from 5 days ago before their 3 game homestand does not show her jump serve but does have a brief interview with her and the coach. www.14news.com/2021/10/29/ue-volleyball-slated-crucial-weekend-matches/?outputType=apps
