The Aces don't really appear to have a half court offense. Add that to very little defense, and it is what it is. When I suggested a few weeks back that we don't have an offense, several others suggested that we had a well-oiled machine and were just missing shots. We don't have an offense.

The offense took KY / SMU/MSU to the wire What has happen to a team that had ranged in the 18-25 assist game stat to 4. Y'all said McCarty had no game plan Hell of a recruiter. Looks like he has a way to win games. This loss is worse than the loss @ Duke. Seltzer needs to see who wants to play and who really doesn't care anymore
Grant them their release before the Spring semester begin

I keep thinking of the good old days when we had Big winning streaks instead of big losing streaks.

We look lost and without direction and some of that can be linked to the ongoing situation. We lack an on floor leader, someone who can be vocal, lead by example and for a lack of a better word, police what happens between the lines. Right now this group looks like playing basketball is a chore. Until that changes, and hopefully the postgame locker room session alluded to in the C&P article can begin the process of fixing what is clearly broken.
The spirit of this group is broken and it won't get fixed by anyone on the sidelines.....it has to come from within, from the players themselves to come together and play for something bigger than just themselves. It's clear the kids are hurting and in many ways have lost the ability to trust. The staff is in a very difficult position....but until it becomes fun to compete, play the game together, it's not going to be pretty to watch. The pieces have to be connected and clearly they aren't right now.
It's far deeper than an offensive set, mindset, etc.

My take and as usual...my opinion and could be very wrong.....I think we have more than just basketball problems and believe we have some serious internal problems.

Watch the last few games and you will see some things that make you scratch your head happening out on the floor (both offensively and defensively)

It's best I don't say what I think - I just hope we hit rock bottom and it lights a fire under them. I am very close to my breaking point.

Tom...I think that is the problem....everyone wants to see the best and not talk about the worst. Call a spade a spade....moderator or not...you have usual been one of those who could diplomatically call it like you see it. This team is not in a good place....they do not play well together and I am not sure (though we are told otherwise) they get along very well together. This shows on the floor on both ends. A team that is playing for each other does what it takes to make stops and works hard to put the ball in the basket....together! There is no together right now...it is I am going to try and get mine and however it plays out...so be it! This group can sit and say the coaching deal is the cause...what would they do if the 77 situation had happened? What would they do if the lost a player? What would they do if the program was getting sanctioned? None of this has happened...but they are playing as though the world has ended. I am so disappointed in this team and thought they were better and stronger than this.

At this point wins and losses are irrelevant. I would play the guys who play with all they have. Effort would be my only criteria. We might lose every game in conference, but if maximum effort is given... (no shoulder slumping and pouting)... you might hold onto some of the fan base. This has an apocalyptic feel. I have always followed the name on the front of the jersey. I hope to be able to do that in the future.

What is this back injury with DeAndre? Any official word from UE? Is this back trouble something he has had before or from recent play? Sect3purple, I don’t know any specifics on DeAndre’s back injury. However I do know from personal experience that it doesn’t take much to tweak a back and you just have to take it day to day till you are better. Otherwise, you could severely aggravate it and be out longer. Not only that but you will be hurting the team if you tried to play. I hope this helps. Thanks!

First time posting here. I’ve been reading the messages on here for the last two weeks. In my 40 years of being an Aces fan, I have to say I cannot remember a time I have been more embarrassed than I am today. We are literally the joke of college basketball right now. Outside of having roughly 1000 more people in the seats and the coach shaking a few more hands than Simmons did at the end of his tenure, how are we a better program than we were three years ago? Stats don’t tell the entire story, but they tell a lot. When you compare current year stats versus Simmons’ last year, we are scoring 9 more points a game and giving up 13 more. We are currently at or near the bottom of every defensive category in the conference for the season. A lot of people didn’t like the slower pace Simmons ran and the lack of 3-point shooting. Well, this year we are making 3 more shots from long range than we were two years ago...and we currently have the second-worst 3-point percentage in the conference. The “5-out” offense produces either a quick three, or a shot-clock dwindling game of drive and dish. Which...again...was a complaint of the former coach. Finally, The promises of a tougher schedule haven’t come through.
I understand many people won’t agree with my thoughts. I also am not saying it wasn’t time for a change a couple of years ago. However I Agree that the problems run deeper than Coach McCarty’s current situation. There is no leader. Kids are arguing with the coaches on the court. Our scoring leader wants everyone to know every time he scores. Worst of all, there is no pride. No one is playing for their teammate. No one is making each other better. And this is not just in the last two weeks. Here is my assessment: outside of one glorious night last November, we are in a worse situation than we were three years ago.
Final thought: one area that the current coach has done well in is raising money and fan support. I think we can all agree the university has helped with this tremendously with promotions, new branding, and creating excitement. But where was that before? Would be interested to know there wasn’t that much support in the three-four years prior to our current coach. I think to get real answers or real change, we need to bark higher up the tree than the basketball coach....
