I'm not saying Benny should be our coach after this year. But you have to give him credit,he came into a tough situation and he is busting his Ass to make sure this team is successful. Benny is a stickler for defense, and I believe we are a little better defensive so far. Also, just yesterday coach had the team go to the Ford Cen6in the morning to practice there shooting , my opinion that's a smart coach.

Judging by the prediction contests a lot of people have confidence in this team. So do I. The talent is there. I'm reserving judgment on the coaching as yet. The sample size is small here. I'm also a believer that past results are a predictor of future results unless there is some kind of systemic change. His head coaching record is not stellar at a low major.

I have picked Bradley to win this game because I believe that they have better players than we do, not because of the coach. Now, maybe this will be the game the Aces hit 60% of their 3 point shots, and Bradley thinks that the only thing they have to do is walk out on the floor to win the game. I fervently hope that is the case. We shall see.

None of us would love anything more than for Bennie to have this team take off and flourish. No doubt, he came into an very difficult situation. Should he "right the ship" I am sure he will be given every opportunity to be the new coach, if McCarty should not be reinstated. Though I will rigorously still support the team, presently I am very skeptical about the rest of the year...for lots of reasons. Bennie has worked with some great coaches and has a nice resume. Hope the players respond to him.

After last night, everyone in the MVC has at least one loss. The Aces can hop right back into this race pretty quickly. After the disappointment of the last game, I think motivation for a W will be VERY high tonight. I don't think the team wants to lose this home game tonight when they know there are two road games coming up, so I think they will be busting their ass to win tonight. I know Bradley is tough, but I still feel our team has the talent to compete with anyone. I, too, like the fact that Coach Seltzer is emphasizing defense. I saw more Aces helping out on defense, causing deflections, blocked shots, etc. than I've noticed all year long. They need to lock down on their 3 point defense and be aggressive without fouling, in my opinion. I also like the fact they took the time to practice shooting in the Ford Center. Sure would like to see a switch from KJ handling the ball to Art/Shamar handling the ball at the point. I think that would help the offensive pace tremendously.

Bennie has been forced into a bad situation. I am not sure if he has the confidence of the team or the school administration. What would you folks think if a call was placed to Todd Lickliter? I thought he was a good balance to Walter on the bench last year. We know his history with Butler and Iowa. I get the feeling that he is more suited as a head coach were Bennie is more of a second chair guy.

No chance of any changes in the coaching staff for the balance of this season. It would further deteriorate the psyche on the bench if that were to happen.
If they even consider making the interim coach full time, I will seriously have to consider not renewing my season tickets. The past record is not impressive and neither is the performance so far. I understand he is placed in a very difficult situation but the team hasn't shown any inkling of "running through a wall" for him.

This whole problem falls in the hands of Walter McCarty whether he is innocent or guilty of anything. Unfortunately this will hang as a dark cloud over the heads of UE and Evansville for a long time.
What to do going forward? I assume the AD is doing his job preparing for a new coach if that’s part of the outcome. We were looking for a coach when we found McCarty and apparently there was no shortage of applicants. I assume there will also be no shortage going forward. Selecting the right one will be a difficult task. If McCarty stays as the HC there will still be a multitude of problems for the AD to identify and solve.
My biggest concern right now is what happens to the team. All the current players are eligible to return next year except one. How many of these will move on via graduation, transfer or other choices? These are major decisions that young men such as they are should not have to make. Their college years should be of fond memories and even more so to be able to play collegiate sports. I hope all of them return but I have my doubts.
Secondly, what effect does this have on our recruits for next year and future years? If Walter is replaced it’s unknown what the damage might be to the program. We have extremely good kids scheduled to come in who may make other choices. In addition, HS Juniors are starting to make decisions on where they might like to go to college.
Even though Title IX is Federal, we need a quick resolution so everyone can get on with their lives.

Bennie Seltzer is listed again as an assistant coach at the Aces team page. It will be interesting to see how this plays out and if he's someone Lickliter would retain on staff after this season. I could see Matthew Graves coming back to the Aces bench as an assistant for head coach Lickliter alongside TC and Logan Baumann. Graves current title is "Special Assistant to the Head Coach". Why does that job title sound so familiar? Hmmm... Purple and Orange. gopurpleaces.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster#sidearm-roster-coaches
