NCAA Free Throw Rule Changes: 1957-1958 - One free throw for each common foul for the first six personal fouls in a half, and the one-and-one is used thereafter.
I am guessing this rule was the one in place in 1965. Interesting rule, as you could foul a team and they only got one free throw -- and did not maintain possession, unless they got the rebound after missing the FT.

That was the case in those days. Any personal foul was 1 FT, unless shooting. Bonus 1+1 reset at halftime. The elimination of the free throw on the offensive foul was early 70s. But the game was not played to contact back then. Today, such a rule would be absurd. It's the one facet of the game that the rules-makers keep tinkering with and always will. I think the weirdest thing was in the 40s when the offended team got to choose to shoot or take the ball out of bounds. If you were trying to catch up, all you were doing was fouling out. I had not seen that entire film and found it fascinating that the same 5 guys, with a brief sub minute by Ron Johnson, played this entire game and were all still in at the end -- even SIU made few substitutions. Considering they played 3 games in 2 days and this was a very fast-paced game -- we'd whine to be-tall-hell now if we only had 1 reserve who could play. Walter Frazier -- even Marv could not have foreseen that form of greatness. Aces had 4 legit small-college All-Americans. You'd be a fool not to wish for that world to happen again, even if it is a form of living in the past. Some new things are not better. Larry Humes was an artist.

I wanted to thank Tom Servo for the UE Aces game dvd exchange we did a few years back. I don't see well anymore, but i am trying to upload more old games. It is slow going and i found out how to put a game up in one file, instead of 4 parts. I will be replacing the multi file games in the future, It just takes me a little time.

No problem! Thanks for the ones you gave to me - we really enjoyed them! It's fun to go back and watch those older games - If you come across any more please let me know -I will definitely do that same if I see some!

Thanks for uploading those RiverCity...with the assist from Tom. I enjoy watching them and seeing the history that has taken place with our Aces. I was a tyke back in '65 and not sure if I would of been at that game. Dad went to all the games since the armory days, but mom didn't start regularly going to games till the 80s. My earliest memory of players would be Steve Whelmer and Mike Platt??
Is there any video out there of the Larry Bird/Ind St. game against the Aces at Roberts?
