Syc forum-ites are not happy about losing two (2) straight Friday series openers. As I cited previously, the 4-day layoff does NOT benefit the harmony of a well-oiled machine. They're also complaining about the "curse" of being ranked #25 and losing. Need to keep that voodoo box locked up...must be those Catholic ISU Haitian Alums.
Hannah's went w/ the converted LH reliever again (Jared Spencer), trying to squeeze 5 IP's in desperation! ISU bat's remained in their travel bags. I was bouncing between both UE/ISU games, finally "burning out" in the 6th. Gotta take my afternoon naps!
ISU RHP Pruitt is the Syc comparable to Nick Smith. A starter to begin the season, now trying to get him in a groove as a reliever. Tough psych hurdles to overcome...

My first thought after Hord dingered, if Hord can homer, everyone else will. Turns out, not everybody did -- but, it's evidently wind out of the west.

Best advice is to not shove square pegs into round holes. If a guy is a hitter, he will eventually hit. If he's a strike thrower, he will throw strikes. It's hard to run the table in baseball, which makes it a great game. Outcomes depend on different people every game. The Skinny Mutts are never an easy team to beat. I'd agree that a mid-week game lets the players "air out" a little. Seems there are plenty of teams they could get for a non-con. In Indiana alone, there are 20 college teams, more or less. Not all of them compete well, but that's not really the point of a non-con. There are 30-some guys on these rosters.

Luv the "high wind" games...really challenges your wind adjustments. OF/IF call-offs are testy & playing the walls/fences becomes an art...that Texas Leaguer in RF today miffed by Peart/Fougers is a great example. Rule of thumb is that the INCOMING FIELDER takes all he can get to. In this case, the 2Ber might've called the RFer off. Mental error. Fouger's inexp in playing RF might've also clumsily contributed to the confusion...

Head coach nightmare. Enter reliever, first pitch -- there went the ball. Fieger, then enjoying this, sets up another one. Here, hit this!

Fougerousse should be playing 2nd base ... he's a bat looking for a field position otherwise. But he can hit.

Fieger's sure s-it his drawers! So much for dependability in a college BP! Btw, how often do ya see "Catcher's Interference?" Tell Coach Carroll to enjoy the history...doesn't Carroll have to sit out the NEXT game?

Catcher interference ...not common. Reds had a guy Nick Senzel, (now with the Nationals) who had an amazing ability to get that call. Senzel was lucky not to be on the IL otherwise. I am not clear on your reference to Carroll.

Nice to see Meyer clutch w/ those SO's - especially against Hawkins, the proto-type oversized ..(fill-in)...
Talk about an almost perfect 1 2/3 innings...he was DIALED IN.
Re: Carroll, wasn't he ejected? I thought the MVC had a req. 1-gm sit out penalty for the NEXT game?

Syc bullpen blows a 9-1 lead but they hang on to def. SIU...9-7 and maintain a 1 gm lead in MVC standings.
Next three (3) weeks to determine the '24 MVC BA studs!

Some days you get the bear and some days, the bear gets you.
19-8 still only counts as one loss.

The SIU pitcher threw a nice game for the Mutts today. Coach should have taken him out one hitter earlier for a pitcher who was better than the one who came in. But the Slooks have become a real good team since the conference began.
Honestly think Normal State is the most overrated team in the Valley. Murray might be the most underrated.

Time will tell, but the records don't lie! If their RH reliever Pruitt can return to being the Fri night starter, thus returning the LH Spencer to the bullpen, it'll add depth to both sides of the pitching staff. They also need a DH...sad to waste an inning/gm. If you saw the CF backhand play @ the wall by Pottinger, his relay throw to Diaz in short CF and Diaz' target throw gunning down the SIU runner @ the dish (not even close), you surely understand the excellence of Hannah baseball...which is anchored by SOLID "D."
The SIU SP threw one helluva game...and still got his ass whooped! He was dazed for a full inning after being removed, based from the multiple ESPNU shots...pitched the best game of his life AND still lost. Wonder if SIU has a Team Psychotherapist?
The Aces 3-gm series in TH could be a humdinger!
