The Aces coaching staff seem to be giving significant interest to David Gorrianskii, a 7'0, 225lb Fr. Center, from Tralee, Ireland, who played this past year at Miles Community College in Miles City, Montana. David has a 4.0 GPA. Looks like he runs the floor well, is an athletic, aggressive and physical player, and definitely a rim protector. Last year he averaged 5.1 PPG, RPG was 4.0, FG% was 49.6, FT% was 65.4. From the video, he appears to be a lefty. He would have 3 years left to play.

Great find. Just curious how you found that the coaching staff is showing “significant interest”? Following him on Twitter, I presume.

Definitely slams with authority - there won’t be many missed bunnies with that type of finish. And a good shot blocker.

I watched Dan Godfread as he played and developed under the coaching at UE. David Gorianskii at this point in time could run rings around Dan. It seems to me that under Craig Snow he could develop into a very good mid major D-1 center.
I don’t know who the portal targets are for UE at the 5 spot, but I don’t see how he could go wrong on our roster.

According to David’s Twitter account he is being followed by UE Coaches Rags, Snow and Wilson so I would say there is significant interest.
David was a Freshman on a Miles CC team with a strong Sophomore class of scorers so I wouldn’t be too concerned with his ppg.

Michael Day and David would provide John Bol some decent practice players as well, if we were lucky enough to have him come to UE. Even without a John Bol though, David and Michael could turn into nice big men and rim protectors for us. We will see soon hopefully who are new recruits are.

I’m less concerned with his ppg and more concerned with a 7 footer only grabbing 4 rebounds a game. Any stats showing what his minutes per game were? I like that he can dunk, but it’s a little concerning to me that there wasn’t a single offensive move besides a dunk in that highlight reel. We all seemed to be in agreeance that Sekous offensive game was very limited and it would be nice to have a center that can play in the post, and he appears to be just as limited offensively imo. Hopefully coach snow can help all our bigs develop playing in the post more this summer.

I think Michael Day has some offensive game/shooting range but was not a big scorer. I agree it would be nice if David had a more rounded offensive game but we generally have to develop our big men.

Thanks ... yes, I just did a little Twitter research and found that David, Marcus, and Craig were all following this guy. It seems kinda rare that you find 3 or more coaches (and sometimes Dr. Ziggy) following a player, so I arbitrarily assume that indicates pretty significant interest. As you pointed out, recruiting news will probably be picking up quite a bit very soon!

Pretty good skills for a 7 footer. He moves pretty good. Lawrence, that's exactly the first impression I had when I saw his video. I also noticed he must be left handed.

Sophomores at the CC/JUCO level are not very interested in team ball. They are interested in themselves or their buddy to score or rebound as much as possible to impress coaches at the next level. Coaches are interested in winning so they can keep funneling high potential players to their programs.

His game is fine. Break it down per 40. David scores 12.4 points/40 minutes, grabs 9.75 rebounds/40, and has 2.1 blocks/40. Those are very solid numbers. Just to play devil’s advocate, and because he was brought up, Kalle’s 40’s are: 6.8 points/40 minutes, 8.6 rebounds/40, and .6 blocks/40. While I am a fan of Kalle, the only category that he is close per 40 minutes is rebounding. He really wasn’t that much of a rim protector if you think about it also. (I also realize that most of Kalle’s numbers were from before his injury against SMU, so they probably could have been higher, but injuries are a part of it.)
