Does anyone know anything about this kid from Castle. He is putting up some impressive numbers this year. 6’3 and in the ‘23 class. This article has the following on him from this morning: www.courierpress.com/story/sports/high-school/2023/01/18/evansville-area-high-school-boys-basketball-mid-season-report-2022-23/69802966007/Metro MVP: Wes Aigner My opinion hasn't changed since I broached the subject last month. No one has played at this consistent and high level since the season started. Wes Aigner has carried Castle to an 8-5 record at the midpoint. The senior forward is averaging 25.8 points plus six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Nothing in his game is considered fancy either. Aigner is out-working every opponent. He knows what shot he excels at, midrange and around the rim, and gets it done. This was never more apparent than during the Warrior Showcase over the weekend. He scored 30 in a win over Hopkinsville and followed it up with a more impressive, in my opinion, 29-point and 11-rebound effort in a loss to Christian County. The senior had to earn every bit of it with Christian County playing him physical and even blocking a few shots. Aigner kept attacking. He attempted 17 free throw attempts. Castle follows his lead – Aigner followed it up with a career-high 36 at Henderson County on Tuesday – and will be a problem for any opponent down the stretch.

He was a solid receiver on the Castle football team. He is a tough kid. However, a tough, aggressive 6-3 kid may rule in high school and get a lot of points in the paint, but unless he can handle the ball, make 3s and play tough defense and play one of the two guard positions he will not succeed at the next level. I have not seen him play this season but would assume with his size and toughness he is not playing the point or shooting guard spot, but please advise if I am wrong. As the articles say he excels around the rim. Again not gonna happen at the D1 level if you are a six foot three player.
Anyone remember Lewis "played way too many minutes" Jones in Marty's regime? This is what you get when you have a player who a coach falls in love with but does not have the abiilty to play the spot necessary for the team to succeed and is played out of position.

Seen him play as well. Mid=level Division 2 player. As stated earlier, can't be 6'3 and play around the rim and unable to nail the three pointer and be a d-1 player.

CP article (for subscribers only) a week ago when he was voted Courier & Press All-Metro boys basketball Player of the Year, as voted upon by the sports staff: www.courierpress.com/story/sports/high-school/2023/03/31/castles-wes-aigner-named-courier-press-all-metro-player-of-the-year/70041688007/The 6-3 forward/guard averaged 23.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.2 steals on 50% shooting. He led the Knights in most statistical categories and finished tied for first in scoring within the Southern Indiana Athletic Conference… The conference coaches also named the senior the SIAC Player of the Year… His future is, at the moment, unclear. His senior season did open the possibility of playing at the next level. Aigner received a scholarship offer to Kentucky Wesleyan (DII) last week. He has a visit scheduled for Evansville soon... ————————- Sounds like his UE visit went well and this kid will not get outworked and will give you everything. Joining Wes on the CP Metro first team was: Josiah Dunham, Evansville Christian, 6-1, Jr. Tyler Myers, another UE commit, was on the second team.
