Typical UNI game, Trees on pace for 48 in Frostbite Falls. Hard to score when players are riding you like Secretariat.
SIU appears better than expected so far.
I think Loyola-Drake may be the game of the night to watch. It is on CBS Sportsnetwork.

SIU going inside against Valpo. That would worry me against UE.

A win tomorrow night, and we will be tied with half of the league at 1-2, while the other half is only a game up at 2-1.

Well, it would appear that two races have been decided. As I said a few weeks ago, UNI has taken over first place all alone with an 86-71 victory over Bradley, at Bradley, and are very likely to stay there for the rest of the season. UNI has all you would want in a basketball team. Their defense is lock down, and they can shoot, and make the shot from any where on the floor. The other race, the one for last place, clearly has the Aces in a commanding position. The rest of the season will most likely be trying to determine who will join the Aces on Thursday in St. Louis, and who will finish as runner up in the conference. I think that team will be Bradley, and if they can continue to win out, I think they will have a strong case for an at large if they don't win the conference tournament. And to think I would have bet money that the Aces would not be a Thursday team this year.

They had losses in the nonconference to St. Joseph's, Miami (Ohio) and a blowout loss to a bad Northwestern team. Power conference teams have chances to overcome bad losses, but mid majors don't. Northern Iowa is the only team from the Valley with any chance of an at large. Bradley is having a good season, but like the rest of us, they have to win the automatic bid to go to the Big Dance.

For a team that was supposed to be decimated by all the people that they lost, Valpo seems to be doing rather well. I wish we were as good.

The UNI's are probably my least favorite team in the league. With that said, have to give them credit this year. Looking back, they actually remind me of the Crews era teams we had. Recruit regional kids who can play hard-nosed, bust-rear defense, sprinkle in a couple of snipers and add a tree in the middle.
That has to be the hardest place in the league to recruit to, yet Jake plays the cards he is dealt as good as anyone.
