We were in his final four with Tulsa and Ball State when he chose UCF, so I would think that we might have a shot.
If proximity to home is a factor, we are the closest school being only 89 miles from Linton, Indiana.

Toledo, Ball State, and UE were the other 3 finalists. At this point, it’s inevitable that his decision is heavily influenced by who even has a roster opening for him left. We have one. I believe based on VC that Toledo and Ball State do as well, but VC scholly chart really confuses me. Could someone verify I’m reading that chart right?
It looks like Toledo already has several guards coming in next year from Highschool, so they may no longer be interested.
I think Ball State will be heavily involved again for him based on their VC. It looks like they have a dominant upper class men SG but not much behind him.
It will be interesting to see who else has an open scholly at this point in the cycle and makes a strong push for him.
I really hope we can find a way to land Joey. A backcourt of him and Chuck Bailey would be a GREAT catalyst to our rebuild.

As mentioned before, current Aces baseball player, Kip Fougerousse (transfer from IU), is also from Linton. Maybe Kip might have some influence to encourage Joey to join the Aces?
Joey would be an awesome pickup for the Aces. Would be a VERY strong back court for this season!

In mid-April his dad's coaching contract w/ Linton was not renewed, so I wonder if this was the "change in circumstances?" I think he is/was employed @ Crane.

I feel like we actually have a chance here - unlike with Bol. And I think he's the type of player that could be a difference maker here. Quite frankly, if we want to be the team all of us want the Aces to be we have to start landing players like this. We have to start signing guys other good mid major programs want. When we have signed guys like in the past they have performed exceptionally well (Colt, DJ, JB, Mislav, Etc). When we start scrounging for the random left overs and diamonds in the rough sometimes you get lucky but a lot of times it doesn't work. Signing Chuck Bailey was a huge step in the right direction - getting another one would be huge. My 2 cents.

I feel good about this. I’m guessing he wants to stay close to home. The only other area super close to him is Terre Haute but I don’t know if ISU has any openings at this point? I’d love to see him come here though. He and Chuck Bailey would absolutely own the Valley.

In mid-April his dad's coaching contract w/ Linton was not renewed, so I wonder if this was the "change in circumstances?" I think he is/was employed @ Crane. That happened a few weeks back. It could be related but I don’t think it is. UCF signed some portal guards within the last 48 hours and recruited over Joey. I think that is the real change of circumstances. He was expecting to be able to play his freshman year and now it doesn’t look likely. Hopefully he seriously considers us because he would be a day 1 starter and be able to fully show his talents.

I had heard during his original recruitment that ISU was not being considered because the Harts did not like how the new ISU staff cut Former Linton star Lincoln Hale when they came in. However, I was reading Peegs (IU forum) today and their staffer Trevor Andershock, who is very tuned into Indiana HS recruiting, was saying that the early rumors point towards ISU. I hope that isn’t the case. I would hate to lose someone of this caliber to them after making the original top 4 over them. They’re loaded with guards so hopefully that is not the case.
