........... There are other good people in this vast country who can pick up and move it forward. Just not Mark Spencer. Yeah, I suspect Spencer is a good person, and I hope he's found joy. He'd be welcome at the games, I suppose. Ticket prices aren't up significantly.

That’s true. He’s got a contract deal similar to coaches that only guarantees him X amount of years as AD. I’m sure that contract has a buyout UE would be required to pay if they fired him for performance while he still had years on his contract. Idk how AD contracts work, but it would only make sense to have a buyout another employer would have to pay if they wanted to poach him too. I’m sure the poaching buyout isn’t a crazy number and a P5 would pay it to hire him as an AD, but hopefully it’s enough to deter Memphis from considering him as a deputy AD. No offense, but I am 95% sure that Ziggy would not take a lower level job, even if it pays more, because the optics would look terrible for him. The only place the optics would look terrible is in Southern Indiana. There’s only one other AD on that candidate list without FBS football experience. Big schools have deputy ADs who’s main responsibility is to manage the football program. The guy that’s listed first in that article is that guy currently. If he was to be promoted, the optics wouldn’t be terrible for Ziggy to throw his name out to replace that guy if he was getting more money, adding FBS football to his resume, and getting the opportunity to help Memphis football navigate FBS football musical chairs. Right now they’re on the outside looking in on football realignment. If Ziggy were to play a significant role in successfully finding their way into a P4 football conference, that’s more impressive on an ADs resume than bringing back the Evansville basketball program. I’m not saying he’s leaving. I think the chances of that are slim, but optics definitely won’t be the reason he stays. People in the athletics world would definitely understand why he made the move.

Ziggy doesn't strike me as the type who gives a crap about optics or titles. If he were to go, it would be for family or financial reasons, not titles.

Speaking of AD positions, UIC today hired Sherard Clinkscales to be their new AD. Interesting hire, as he was terminated by outgoing Indiana State President Debbie Curtis in a very unpopular move several months ago. And ISU still hasn't hired his replacement. Angie Lansing, ex wife of Greg Lansing, has been the interim AD. Indiana State just hired a new President to take over this summer, and will have new men's and women's basketball coaches. Unlike Ziggy getting hired here two years ago and hiring Ragland, Clinkscales takes over at UIC, who recently hired a new basketball coach, but one that he didn't get to pick, so we'll see how that plays out.

You're correct stennisrm72. He's the Senior Deputy Athletic Director. I'm used to AD and assistant AD and admit to not being familiar with Deputy AD and Senior Deputy etc.
